Need Cam Idea for "Patriot Heads" - Input please.
I am considering taking the gamble on these heads. For the money - I dont think I can pass it up. Worst case, if I dont like them at all - I sell them off and eat a couple bucks. So consider me somewhat of a guinea pig.
Need an idea/suggestion on a good cam to install. I currently have the XER 224/.581/112 LSA in there now but since we are dropping the motor (to fix an existing problem), swapping the cam will be cake so its something I am considering. Its a good cam - so I might stay with it - but I have other options to consider.
Any suggestions on a cam to try? I plan on having the heads milled 10/1000's to clean the deck a little. They will be 5.3L Stage 2 heads and the double springs are good up to .620 lift (though I dont really want to go that high.
Plan on staying NA and car has all basic bolt-ons w/ 4.30's.
Whats out there to consider for good power - but NOT TOO radical.
Thanks.

I think you'd be happy with the cam you have now. I'm currently running a TR220 with my Patriot heads and I know it is holding me back.. so I'll be replacing it with a TR227/224.. I don't think I'll go any larger than that.

I am looking into a 226/230 .576/.580 112LSA - this could be a good option as well.
Staying away from the G5 cam - I like it - but seems like it might be TOO much and weary about it with the milled heads.

We have a 231/237 598 595 112 cam that would work well with the Patriot heads. Its the same cam that put 430rwhp with stage 1 heads not decked but 5 thou Call Trevor if you have any questions on the heads or any of our cams, he currently has special pricing on Patriot heads & the new cam

I also don't think its a gamble at all, several people are running the heads now & they flow great. You can probably do a search and find a few people with them installed already, and we have many more to come. The heads flow very very well when compared to other stage 2 heads we've flowed before

231/237 598 595 112 cam??? hmmmm.
Would that fit just fine with the 5.3L decked to 10/1000's? Any clearance issues?

Re: Need Cam Idea for
Chris/Nick - this all stays hush hush around here - lol. Got some sneak attack plans lined up :-D
Chris - you plan on running cam only for a while?
Also - looking hard at the 226/226 573/573 on 112 - seem like a good power/driveability cam. Still taking opinions though.
