Best pricing I've found for a DC9096 real DeWalt battery is about $55 each delivered and that is ordering 5.
Anywhere to look to save a few bucks?
A couple of years ago at Christmas time, Home Depot had a two pack for $90. I'm not sure about now, but it would be worth checking them to see what kind of deals they have right now.

I look everytime i go to any store with tools. I have 8-9 18 volt drills & saws. That's about what they always are. Seen some 2 packs for $95-110. Dewalt is never cheap.

I buy all my DeWalt tools and accessories on Ebay and have never gotten burned. There are tons of sellers that do nothing but sell DeWalt stuff with great feedback. A lot of times you can find a refurb. tool with a battery for almost as cheap as just buying a new battery from home depot.

Most battery packs use the standard C-cell with spot-welded
tabs but you can solder to the battery case and if you have
a voltmeter you can pick out the dead cells and replace them
individually. Buy a bulk pack of C-cell, high mAH batteries and
replace the whole bunch if you want. C-cells go pretty cheap
on eBay. I have repaired a few of mine (not DeWalt, but still).

I just found out from the black&decker outlet that the old style b&d 18v post style batteries are the same as the dewalt(B&D owns dewalt ) The 18v is the only one that crosses over brands. Also the post style 18v batt is being discontinued as they have a new slide in style 18v bat for the b&d unit. The good part is that the B&D bat sells for 26.00 at the outlet

I can't speak from personal experience on this, but . . . A friend tells me he takes his battery packs to "batteries plus". He gives them a core, and they give him a battery that is rebuilt & supposedly better than the original. I don't remember what the price was, but I remember it was very cheap. Just an option I thought I would throw out.
