Default What drag radials do you guys run?

My nittos are spanked and i need a new set of DR's... i have a 9" so im not rly worried about breaking anything ( i know MT's are sticky ).... what do you guys run? im in a toss up between MT's and BFG's.. anyone use the Hoosier DR? I will put MAYBE 5k miles on over the course of a summer, and i have a set of slicks and skinnies for the track

I think the best drag radial out there is MT, and better suited for the track than the street.
For the street, I would go with BFG's. NITTOS SUCKS!

I like my 315/35/17 BFG drag radials, but if I could buy my rear tires again I'd probably go with the MT's. Granted I know a 17" rim isn't the best for traction, but my car was blowing away the 315 BFGs from 2nd gear. If you're going to make any more power I'd choose the MT's.

im sure everyone is reffering to the radial tire, but a bias ply et street will hook just the same. the bias ply is just more relavant to pulling the oils out of the road if you get them to hot.

an MT radial will knock a tooth loose, thats for sure.

On my cobra that made 626/670 I ran 305/35/18 Nitto DR's all the time and it would spin them hard all the time. Then when I wanted to really play I had 335/35/17 Hoosier DR's they would spin a little in 1st (but it would still pick up speed) but would dead hook in 2nd and it felt insane.

With the TA I have 315/30/18 BFG drag radials (which I used on the cobra at 492/464 with great luck). The TA won't spin them from a 3K first gear roll, I refuse to launch on them since it has a 10 bolt that is about to get replaced with a S60.

several local guys have tried them with 6 spds and always spun them.
back to the article, the sidewalls were designed to have constant force on them.

i dont have a stick car, so ive not personally experienced this, but ive seen it.
im not telling you what to do, just giving you info to run with.

so i guess it comes down to Hoosier or BFG... i have had mickeys in the past on my mustang and those things pick up just about everything on the street (compared with a few of my friends running BFG's or Nittos) I got a couple flats from stones.. I know Nittos are crap, i dont care for them at all. Is hoosier more comparable to a Mickey or a BFG?

my cars never see rain so its not really an issue for me ..... what do you feel is the better tire, if u were forced to choose BFG or Hoosier?

For race only> Hoosier> looks nasty> less tread= better grip> Good for tire swappers or weekend drivers.

For race/ street BFG>very soft compound lasts about 6-8 months (If you like to stand on it) with monthly trips down the track> needs less to heat up so for street rips. Losts of graded cheeze in the wells.

As far a price, their real close $160B vs $190H
