Had the car on the dyno yesterday and after the 3rd pull, the tranny wouldn't let us disengage 4th gear. It was stuck. Dyno operator worked on it a bit, and checked the tranny fluid level (it was OK). After enough finagling, it became unstuck, and we did one more pull.
On the way home, shifting into both 3rd & 4th gear would cause mild grinding only under acceleration. Today while testing it I got on the throttle hard in 4th, and it stuck in gear again and had to coerce it out of gear. I wasn't having any problem with either of those gears until the end of the 3rd pull.
The only other problem I've had recently is 2nd intermittently popping out of gear at low RPM's, like after shifting into 2nd below 2K when leaving from a stop. It only happens right after I shift into 2nd and release the pedal. Once it's in gear it doesn't come back out by itself. Hard to duplicate too.
T56 was just rebuilt with replacement parts from D&D last June. I don't recall which fluid I used, but it wasn't synthetic and it had the correct seal on it. Seems to me it might have been Valvoline.
Only other thing I can think of is the shift stops as a cause. I went auto-xing once back in October, but no visits to the dragstrip. I'm going to take it back to the fella who rebuilt it and let him drive it this week.
Thoughts?
