B&M Broke My Console
ok. i just bought this car dec 12th. it has a few things wrong, but nothing i cant fix. one of which is a broken console. it broke because when i put it in reverse it goes that far over. it was broke when i got it. so i tried to hold it together and put it in reverse and the only way it will go is if it is broke. so what the hell. did the guy i buy the car from put the wrong shifter in or something. if the console and everything is off, as well as the shift boot. and you are looking directly at the shifter. it is rectangular with a circle in the middle, only the circle in the middle is towards the passenger side like a half inch or something. so when your shifting everything is on the passenger side. so what the hell is wrong with this thing. i had a b&m before on my ws6 and it didnt do that.

well how the hell do i do that haha. i only thought there was one way to mount it. i mean i took it off this weekend because the freakin thing wasnt even sealed to the transmission. it was just sliding around. so i took it off and cleaned all the old crappy sealent off of it and resealed it. and when i had it off i didnt see any other way to mount it. because the bend of the stick is towards the drivers side. but if there is another way to do it could ya break it down for me. thanks man.

What SladeX is saying is that the shifter stand is attached to the shifter base. The stick bolts to the shifter stand. If the stick is bolted on the passenger side of the stand, it is wrong. The stick should be bolted to the driver side of the stand. Hope that helps.

The stick on B&Ms shifter is one solid piece(at least mine is). You can't unbolt the stick and put it on the wrong side. I would guess that yours is not meant for an f-body. Mine is slightly angled towards the driver and does not hit anything.

well i just got back from a road trip to oklahoma. so tomorrow i will take my console off and snap a pic of the shifter. because it is one piece. so my guess was it was the wrong one, but i dont see how it would mount if it was the wrong one. but like i said i will get that pic up tomorrow and maybe that will help.

well i wish i had the money to buy another shifter. i just bought a umi short stick because the guy told me it was a hurst. i took everything off and found out it was a b&m. so now i have a short stick just sittin around. but what gets me about this shifter is the circle on the blue base. it should be in the middle, but instead its towards the passenger side and i think that why it broke it.

Look more carefully.
Aside from the B&M sucking, it has offset holes to mount it to the T56 that are SUPPOSSED to have offset washers that fit into them that push the base of the shifter forward or backward... that shouldn't be the difference in the car in the pictures...but they are missing...the cap screws holding the shifter down are just bolted to the blue base.
Like I said, the B&M sucks BAD...horrible feel and you can't even remove the stick...just get a different shifter, you'll be happy you did.
