Default Drag Radial help

i am going to buy a set of DR's soon for a upcomming race at the track with a 03 cobra! i have a set of the stock 16" camaro wheels i am going to put the DR's on but i need some help with a good size and brand. my car has 403RWHP and 387RWTQ and 4.11 rear end gears and a M6. i want a tire that will hook up but dont want to waste my time and money on the wrong size or brand. what do you guys run? what would you think would work best for me? we will be running a local 1/8th mile track. i run steady 7.90's with street tires and spinning off the line bad and the cobra is running 7.95's on street tires spinning also. he will be bringing DR's to the race so i want to come ready! i got to keep the little poney in his place!!! thanks guys

ya i thought about slicks but i dont always run at the track so it would be nice to have the DR's for the playing around on the street. that and i am not making enough power to need slicks am i? i mean a good set of DR's shouldnt have a problem hooking up 400hp should they?

Get the Mickey Thompson street radial. The size would be 255/50R16.

I use these tires and they absolutely rock at the track. I have also let my friend who has a 387 rwhp Formula use them and he hooks up great with them too. Just set the tire preasure to 19 psi and do a 5 second burnout. That's five seconds after you start seeing smoke.

But I hope you have a 12 bolt. 4.11 gears + M6 + 10 bolt + sticky tires = BOOM.

Good luck.

yes they are spare wheels. i did not know that the E.T streets were wrinkle wall. i guess that would be the best way to go.u think the 255/50/16 would be the best size?

13? Most people I have talked to here or at the track wouldn't recommend taking any drag radial below 15 or 16 psi. Besides 19 psi has got me hooking 1.6's with zero tire spin so why mess with success?
