"Attached to the crankshaft is a set of titanium connecting rods and forged aluminum pistons, which, when combined with the cylinder heads, delivers a 9.1:1 compression ratio. This combination is extremely durable and lightweight, enabling the LS9’s high-rpm capability."

Love the engine, love the brakes, love the BBV on the lid.

Any other BBV markings on it?

Other than that...it is fugly. Looks like pure rice...a bunch of fan boys must have designed it.

This thing is seriously ugly...yuck. I always love the classic sports car looks on Vettes...this one does not look like a Vette.

The C6Z is still king of the world in my heart!!!

I don't care for the clear hood or CF roof (show car yes, production no) . THe blue is a little light IMO. The black is pure sex on wheels. Like the post above, the wheels look great on the black ZR1.

Has anybody heard of a price yet?

In addition to the exterior cues and powertrain, ZR1 models will be distinguished from other Corvette models by their VIN. Each will carry a unique, identifying VIN digit, as well as a sequential build number. This makes it easy to determine the build number of a specific car – information treasured by enthusiasts and collectors. For example, a ZR1 with a VIN ending in “0150” would indicate it is the 150 th ZR1 built for the model year.

That's pretty cool. I love this car, I wish I could afford one.

This puts corvette's into a new light for me, I really got tired of vette's before, they all seemed the same, then the new z06 came out and it was a beat but still...doesn't look much different beside's the big wheels, but this car is gorgeous inside and out (my new wallpaper on my desktop), and make's me wanna own a vette for the first time. Not even particularly this vette it just puts all vette's in a new light for me.

So hot. So not affordable for most of us, which I guess is a good thing.

Magneto-rheological shocks redesigned to cope with extreme track duty and provide base coupe ride quality. When drag-strip launch detected, shocks provide zero jounce and 100-percent rebound stiffness to encourage squat and minimize wheel hop

^ That's what I'm talking about.

That's a little hard with huge wheels, huge tires, huge brakes and a supercharger and intercooler added. All of those components add substantial weight. You'd be hard pressed to notice it with 620+ horses and the levels of grip this thing is capable of. All it needs is a pair of racing seats.

There's not much left to take out of a Z06; the floorboard is balsa wood for crying out loud!

Take the LS7, ADD a supercharger, ADD bigger wheels, ADD massive brakes, ADD new exterior aero parts....and you're at 3300+ right there.

They need a cheaper version of this on the new Camaro, possibly with a physical on/off switch, to counter the wheel-hop brought about by the IRS. I think most of the drag guys would be happy if this were even an option, much less standard on V8s....keep your eyes peeled I say!

Questions...

Intake runner in cylinder head includes a port swirl wing to improve combustion. Slight restriction it causes is easily overcome with boost pressure
Anyone see any pictures of this wing or know how big it is?

the intercooler sends air from the top of the blower out sideways through separate cooling blocks for each bank.
Unlike the Magnuson S/C where the intercooler is under the S/C this time the intercooler is on top, and the air is rerouted sideways into the intake ports...but where? Can't see too well with the engine cover there, guess I'll have to wait for better engine pics to come around. Or am I reading this wrong?

They started with turbochargers for efficiency's sake, but switched to supercharging when Eaton unveiled its latest four-lobe Roots-type blower.
That would of been sick!!!! Wonder had they gone this route if they would of used VGT's?? (probably not though)

Avoid the gas guzzler tax, start working toward the new CAFE requirements. I know they don't take effect until 2020, but getting a head start could put them in a very good position to be able to make minimal changes to their lineup and minimal restructuring.

WRONG. Just look at the new Nissan GT-R. That thing is about 3850lbs. Also the supra weights about as much as our f-bods. All cars in general are getting heavier year by year.

Even though its looks are a bit subjective and weight a bit off, its a knockout from a lot of perspectives the more I think about it.

I know my old man has been pestering his preferred vette dealership over the ZR1 ever since he picked up his RFZ last spring. Kinda makes me sad how I pretty much won't be able to touch the zr1's straightline sans turbo.

Rest assured, the zr1 will definitely get the bolton treatment and driven very hard. Ill have to go and purchase a halfway decent digital camera/video camera for some runs.

Slightly related but offtopic:
How long till the LS9 becomes a crate engine? It comes with Ti rods, forged crank and forged pistons, seems stout to me.
