Traction Inpossible In Any Case When Using 20" On My Impala ? ? ?
I build a 68 Impala SS427 con (clone) and would like to go with 20/20 or even 20/22 inch wheels.
The car will get a strong 540cid engine and a 4l80E tranny.
Before the car had SBC 350 with 3,08:1 open 10 bolt, did not ran bad 0-60!
Now, that I will drive a 540BBC I have bought a 3,08:1 12 bolt posi (I live in Austira/ Europe and have to take what I get, but I think when the 350 run good with that gears the 540 will in any case)
Now the question:
Is it really impossible to get bit grip with 20" and 275 or 285/35 or 30´tires?
Like said before I use a posi-locked rear end and adjustable upper trailing arms and will relocate also the upper trailing arms on the axle side on a higher position as I have been said that will improve the traction too.
That car shall be an eyecatcher for my company thats why I really want to go with the big rims.
Thanks for all answers
Hannes

Well I had a hard time understanding some of what you were saying, but its ok.
I dont think it will be impossible. Certainly from a dead stop but 3.08s are really low so from a bit of a roll I would guess you'd be OK with a nice sticky 295. i dont know who makes good 20" tires but I'm sure theyre out there.

Is my english that bad that it have been so difficult to understand what I mean, I hope not. If so I am sorry!
For the tires, by rolling is probably not such a problem but from standing to 60miles I should get some grip or ricers will let me behind what I could not deal with
@TAEnvy
What means bug size?
Thanks so far
