Not sure which clutch to go wtih please help
Guys im running a stock clutch right now, i bought the car last summer and im actually surprised its lasted this long. My current mods are in my signature and i also plan on doing a ported TB, LS6 intake and a tune before the spring..so im wondering which clutch i should go with. Everything in my drivetrain is stock but the first thing i want to upgrade is a clutch. I was thinking either a spec 3 or ls7...The thing is i dont want to spend a lot of money on a clutch right now i just want one that will do me good for a little while. thanks

nope.... textralia or ram HD ***... Ive had both.. Ram has a more racey feel to it. Its heavier and grabs very nicely.
The textralia grabs like a ****. It always amazes me, and it lasts long.

Alex...that is impressive insight you provide (lol). That being the case...I will be happy to help you trouble shoot any issue. What stage was your clutch? What flywheel was being used? How many miles were put on the kit after install? Were the hydraulics new? Let me know and I will gladly assist. Thanks and Merry Christmas!

I paid $1100 for mine shipped, with the upgraded flywheel. If your looking for something cheaper go with the ram HD ($499), or centerforce DX. I dont know if your actually boosted or not, but anything over 500hp will kill the ls7 clutch. If your cam only youll be fine with an Ls7 and you can get one for under $400.

Ram powergrip HD and a billet steel flywheel for the win, but it will cost you a bit more than the LS7 setup. i think i paid 380 for the clutch when it was on sale and the flywheel will run you around 225-250 i believe. its well worth it. stay away from spec! My clutch was holding up to a 100 wet shot and full bolt ons. off the bottle i was launching around 5500+ rpm

My recommendation is out of your price range, but it would be TEXtralia.
Out of the Spec and LS7, I haven't had either of those in my car. Alot of guys like the LS7, and my buddy had a Spec 3+, and it was fine. I drove it for him alot while new and helped with the break in procedure, and he drove it correctly while new as well, and it was also installed and adjusted correctly, which makes a difference on how long something lasts and the performance you receive from it during that period.

everything was installed and adjusted correctly, followed the correct break in procedure. my stage I lasted 13k miles and all 4 or 5 stage III's never made it past 5k miles.. I have friends who used them and they had the same problems. Theyre hit and miss. In my experiences, Specs are just crap. To the fellow who posted about what clutch to get, stay away from spec!! stock might not hold up to the abuse as long as an aftermarket HD clutch, but it will be 100x more reliable than a spec clutch.
