Default Pair of Mitsu TE04s on a 4.8/5.3

Im pretty new to the whole turbo idea and was wondering how these turbos perform and how reliable and power potential they have? Was thinking of tossing a pair on either a 4.8 or 5.3 LSx motor and wanted to make sure theyd get the job done before going ahead with the purchase. Goals are roughly 380rwhp just enough to propel my 85 monte to very low 12s but spool quick and make some good midrange power while maintaining a good daily driveablity. Thanks for any help

well if you are talking about the Trubos form the EVOs then they should be god for about 400bhp each. thats what the Evos guys are seeing from them when really pushing them. should make for an intresting combo on the motor you mentioned.

The Subaru TD04's are quite good. If on a small cube, low boost application, they will work great.
The slightly larger reverse rotation TD05's as fitted to the Mitsubishi Evo's are much better. They will take longer to spool, but are an excellent unit.

I dont know about the US, but the TD04's are cheap as chips here.

The newer IHI based units on the 2.0 Subaru Impreza turbos are also very good. The VF24 would be slightly better than the TD04.

There are dozens of options really.

There are a bunch of Volvos and Saabs that also use variants of the TD04 also.

The Saab ones all have small exhaust housings, but 2 should still easily flow 600 crank HP with a very fast spool.

You could also look at Holset HX35, HY35, Garret TP3801 off of powerstroke diesels, or Holset HX40 on the large side of the list.
