Re: How important is the MAP sensor?
I don't think it would run at all. The injector tables and the ve tables rely on that sensor. I'd say your dead in the water until further notice.

Re: How important is the MAP sensor?
The fuel management system on our cars is a mass air flow type system, not a speed-density. Therefore, the map sensor is secondary to the mass air flow sensor when it comes to fuel metering. However this doesn't mean it's not important. It's used for altitude calculations, ignition timing control, rationality functions, and a default if something goes wrong with the MAF or other critical sensor. As far as removal, just simply take a small screw driver and gently pry up on it. You may want to use some silicone spray to help it break free from the grommet.

The MAP(VE) is used in injector base pulsewidth equations. The VE tables are used in some capacity. Do a search or look through the past 2 weeks pages. The VE tables ARE used in Closed Loop function. Thanks to NoGo, Joe Overton, Chris B.,Camaroholic, Cal and others
