I'm not sure if the owner is on here or not, but this would be a nice one to pick up for a collector.

That's Chris Hollyfields car-perfect condition and the most heavily documented one i've seen but he won't let it go cheap..

what do you consider "cheap" in this case?

Well..i guess it's relative to what the buyer is willing to pay.I was interested in the car about two years ago (when it wasn't for sale) and he was looking for well over 40k at that time.Since then the market has softened quite bit and he has actively been looking to sell it so who knows..
I think these are the most unique, significant, and lowest produced of the fourth gens-unfortunately that's not reflected in recent sales whenever they do pop up occasionally. For instance the alledged last W66 ILE produced sold on ebay earlier this year for 22.5K,and looked to be in nice condition with low miles. The 99's were the last year and had dual exhaust but they made six more than 98(14 v 20)so maybe that evens the field. You would be hard pressed to find a more pristine example than Chris's and his documentation was superior FWIW.

I think he will be stuck with it at anything over $30K. They will be valuable someday, but not right now. I've seen quite a few pristine cars that were ultra rare examples sell for less than 30K, including my 1 of 16 Firehawk Formula.

That's a Hemmings car, not an ebay car. If he wants to get what it's worth, he should list it there.

There are far more valuable and rare cars posted on ebay every day. All of the guys that look in Hemmings also shop on ebay too, I actually prefer ebay.

Example, this one belongs to an avid f-body collector (Charlie L.) and it is on ebay:

Or, if you really want to see something pricey, try this Camaro:

No offense Tony but your 1 of 16 Firehawk isnt a 1 LE WS6...I do agree with u though, its not worth much more than 25K but down the road it should be work some coin but I'd still rather have your Hawk ;)

No offense taken Joel. His ad says his 1LE WS6 is 1 of 14. Mine is 1 of 16, and a far more popular color. You will see in 20 years that the more desirable cars tend to be the ones with more options, not stripper model hard tops with crank windows. That is why cars like the 30th Anniv T/A and 35th LE Camaro SS are holding good value right now. Now, if the 1LE was an upgraded engine combo, then it would for sure be a huge collectible value increase. But, as you know, all these 4th gens are based on cosmetic differences alone. They built more silver WS6 Formulas total than sunset orange Firehawk Formulas. Also, they never built any sunset orange WS6 Formulas, which makes my Hawk even harder to come across. I sure would have loved to get a SOM WS6 Formula, too bad they didn't build them.

hell i just wish my formula was a WS6 or a Hawk, instead its just a NHRA 1 of 95 NHRA formulas in 2000, dont have any more breakdown by color or anything cause some jackasses decided not to keep up with build info, nice cars both of them, the 1LE and tony's hawk

Nine Ball, I think I know why that ZL-1 is on ebay rather than Hemmings. What real collector in their right mind is going to pay $1.25M (minimum) for a unoriginal restored non-numbers matching ZL-1 with a replacement engine? Better to appeal to the uninformed masses that will be impressed by Playboy shoots. Unlike you, (not being sarcastic here, I'm doing a Wayne and Garth bowdown!) I truly am a complete novice and am ignorant of the current market, but it seems like the owner of that car got the decimal place off by a digit when he placed the minimum bid. Or he thought he had an original numbers matching car that had been in a museum the last 28 years, and never been raced.

But point taken! I hadn't realized ebay had gotten so big with specialty cars. Charlie L's RS SS396 looks like a real collector's piece. I'll bet that one goes to a true soul who appreciates the work of art he is getting. In my mind, that original car is more valuable than a ZL-1 that doesn't have a lot more than a number plate, a transmission and rear end in common to the car that rolled off the assembly line.

Sorry to hijack the thread. I do so like the original car in this thread. A factory 1LE with a WS6 package is, as far as I'm concerned, currently the most underrated and will end up being the most valuable (excluding aftermarket vehicles like the GMMG variants) LS1 equipped 4th generation. I think that car would be a steal at $30k. If I wasn't trying to position myself for some real estate transactions, I'd love to bid on that car.

Mine would have been a great collector car when I bought it with 7,000miles, but I had no desire to put it away and forget about it. As of now with all of the mods it does have everything is bolt-on and can be put back to #'s matching original years down the road. (yes I am keep ing all the stock parts)

In a true collectors eyes mine will not be the desired one to have, but when there were only 3 silver formulas built that year it will still be very hard to find one for a collection.

I'd agree, when u are looking at a 4th Gen Copo these 1LE cars will be worth coin...
They might even do as well as the GMMG cars.

Tonys SOM Formee Hawk is a keeper...
Those are rare too,I'd love to own that car :)

I never understood how they could produce a car with those looks and then add a single exhaust tip on the back... :bang:

It's not a good investment, the resale value is probably like $5-7K over a regular WS6, and you can make more money investing in bonds. :)

Cars are never a good investment when compared to stocks and bonds, but they sure are much more fun to drive around in and tinker with. That has some value to a car guy.

Not to hijack here, but in one of the pics on that auction, the window sticker says "this vehicle is not for sale" and other stuff about pricing, so how did it get sold? Was it just a dealer decided price with no MSRP? Just curious.
