Bounce it off the limiter like the ricers do.

You dont mention what kind of tires you would be on?

I just took my lid/catback 98 formula to the track and on crappy 245 street tires the best 60 foot I could get was with no burnout, trying to go around the burnout box and launching on idle.....2.2. Sucks I know.

On street tires w/ no suspension mods, rev up to about 2000-2500 an ease out the clutch (quickly), Don't dump it, and roll on the gas quickly. Then your good to go once your moving. It will come with practice. I'm having to relearn my car w/ the new suspension mods right now. It's SREAMING for a good DR.

With suspension mods, DR, etc. You can do the same thing a bit quicker from a higher rpm.

With full suspension or M/T, Slick, etc. (on a prepped surface) you can dump it from where ever it will go with out bogging or spinning.

That was probably my problem, my last mustang had drag radials so I could always dump the clutch but with my LS1, I will roast the tires if I rev to anything above idle and attempt to dump it and go. Practice makes perfect!

It all depends on what tires your running, what psi their at, what surface your on, and what the outside temps are, and have been.

For a starting point, try 2kish and slip it out as you add more throttle. If it does pretty good, get more aggressive with it.

Thats why I lernt to race from the roll. I would always spin them through 1st and couldnt find the right combo, so every street race for me was the roll.

Yeah, definitely no higher than 2500 or so on those street tires. And even at that, if you let it out too quick, you're going to start spinning and have to ease up a bit. Like they said, just bring it up to 2K, let the clutch out smoothly and not to quick as you ease into the throttle. If it doesn't spin or bog, try letting out the clutch a little quicker. Keep doing so until it starts to spin. Then try raising the RPM a little. It will be back and forth with these until you find that perfect spot. It probably won't be above 2500 and on a well-prepped track, you could probably see a 1.9 60' if you really figure it out, but a 2.0 is respectable and will net some good ETs and traps.

The stock size tires are really a limiting factor, as well is your 10 bolt. Everyone's suggestions here are a very good starting point.

I'm wondering the same(perfect launch) on drag radials for stock motor, stock suspension, gutted interior car. Hndakilr says 3300 if I read right but I was thinking it should be atleast 4 with them heated and the psi about 15-20. Am I right? I have a freshened up rearend with 4.10's. I know it won't last long but I got to try to get atleast a couple good runs in.

^^ That would have to be a trial and error thing. Biggest thing is the surface and outside air temp, and how long it's been like that.

its kinda hard to say on stock suspension
i go 3.3k just because my 9inch isnt quite ready yet
you can go higher if you want
i doubt your gonna spin much if any on d/r's
try 4k see what happens
i wouldn't put much faith in that "freshened up" rear end of yours though

if on the street you would probably be good at 1700-2000 find what the car likes, track if prepped correctly you could go to 3000 but then you have to start worrying about the rear.

Either way I would think you would have to ease out the clutch as your tires have some miles on them, and don't drop the stock clutch it doesn't like it= Boom.
