Default What's wrong with my car, very low dyno numbers with new cam

I dropped off my car at MTI to get the TR230 cam installed on my car and dynotuning. I picked it up to find it only made 352.2rwhp and 336.4rwtq. I dont' understand this at all. I've never seen that cam dyno below 390rwhp. What could possibly be wrong with my car? Could the toque converter be a major problem? I have a vig3200 and the cam really tightened it up, it's tighter than stock now. Also, the car just dies everytime I start it up when it's hot so I have to keep my foot down and I have to use two feet in reverse. MTI told me it dies because the converter isn't getting it enough vaccuum so the idle is pretty high at 950 which helps but I have to use a lot more brakes now because of it. Which converter should I look at getting, they said the SS3600 but isn't mine pretty close to that? I was thinking maybe a PT4000 or PT4400. I didn't get my stock parts back so I have to go up there probably tomorrow and get them. I e-mailed Jayson about my low dyno numbers last Thursday but I guess he hasn't gotten to read it yet. What could have caused my numbers to be so low and what can I do to get them up to where they should be. I think I can scan the graph and post it up if yall want to see it. Thanks for the help
Chris

Wow, 14 more rwhp and 14 LESS rwtq than my stock engine with lid/catback/UD pulleys. I'd be so pissed off after spending the money you just did.

Jayson told me these numbers were good for a car with a big stall and a non locked up converter so I'm trusting he's right. Anyone else know about this stuff and why my converter is causing so much problems?

You converter had to of been locked or you would have had over 400 lb of torque. Your torque numbers are low so it had to of been locked. Also a Vig3200 isn't that big. A 4400 stall is big.

screw the dyno its a TUNING tool its not a very good measure of power....if you want a good measure of power take it to the dragstrip that will tell you if yer car is screwed up or not

Have you taken it to a track to see what it runs ? If it runs well who cares about the dyno numbers.

No I havn't taken it to the track but it does feel very strong. Jayson said the converter was unlocked when they dynoed it and that it would show higher numbers if it was locked up.

Jason is absolutely right. Your numbers are right on what we see with that cam and unlocked converter.

Unfortunately some ls1's just dyno low. At least you can still add heads and pick up more power.

355-365 is average for any cam A4 with stall unlocked

dyno numbers are friggin pointless.. All I wanna see is track numbers

IMO dyno numbers in an A4 really don't mean much. I think that your #'s look good for an a4 with stock heads. I doubt anyone is getting 390 rwhp in an A4 with the TR230 and stock heads-m6 maybe but that's a different story completely. Take it to the track and let it rip, with traction I'd expect mid-high 11's. Good luck
