lol..... these are "slightly" stonger lol.....

10bolt<12bolt<9inch<dana60<14bolt

14 bolt is stronger in stock form than any other diff i know, short of a dana 80 or 2 1/2 ton rockwell axle.

it has a pinion support, bigger axles than a 9 inch or a dana 60, and is full floating. disc brakes are easy on them, and there is a large aftermarket following, just because no on breaks these things. they were one of the General's great made peices, and they went under EVERYTHING. trucks, vans, flatbeds, duallies, suburbans. you name it, if its chevy, full floating rear end, its 95% chance its going to be a 14 bolt.

They were sandard equipment on the 454 SS truck also depending on what year the first years such as 90 and 91 had 373's and the 92 up had 4:10's Maybe that will help you locate one.

**** I had a 96 Z71 that had one. I always wondered how strong it was.

The Z only had a 305 to, haha, but the 3.73s in the rear really helped it keep up with the newer 5.3s and older 5.7s.

So I hate to ask but, how come no one has ever swapped them into a F-body.

I read they weigh close to 500 lbs. I would believe it. My 93 C2500 Suburban has one. The drum brakes on it are freaking monsters. Look at a 10-bolt, then a 12-bolt. See how puny the 10 bolt looks? That's what happens to a 12-bolt when you put it next to a 14-bolt.

And that can be changed though. Although a direct bolt in is the easiest, but sometimes you take what you can find etc...Good luck. And for the guy asking why we haven't put these in F-bodies yet well they have no provisions for a TA and they are HUGE! I dought they would fit with out a lot of modification to the tunnel and that is if you could get a TA mounted some how.

it would be retarded trying to get one of these to fit in a car. they are freakin huge.

i would doubt you can swap a semi float to full float due to the spindles missing and everything else involved.

14 bolts are 8 lug. ill be ditching all of the stock drum brake stuff anyways, and going disc.

Are you looking for a fourteen bolt full floater or the ligher semi floater. All of the full floaters are for 3/4 and 1 tons. You could get a light duty 14 bolt that was available is select z71's and heavy half trucks. These are off the six lug variety. If you need a full floater 8 lug shoot me a pm I have just what the DR. ordered.
