Default Just put in an OEM hurst... what a difference!

I've got a 98 Z with the T56, and just upgraded to a factory Hurst that I got off of ebay for $40. I had been toying with getting a B&M ripper or pro5.0 but decided to give this a try first... due to costs mainly. For anyone thinking about doing this, go for it. You really don't know how bad the stock shifter is until you've driven a car with a factory hurst. They all should have come with this! Flawless 2-3 shifts now.

the "factory Hurst" has a gold tint on the base. The stocker has a stamped base I believe...

I used to have a pro 5.0 and traded it with my dad for his hurst with a short stick. The throws and shifts are the same and the only difference is the hurst has stiffer springs. I haven't missed a shift with either shifter powershifting FWIW.

yeah the hurst has the flat bottom, with a gold tint to it. The one with the curved base is the POS oem non-hurst shifter. The springs on the hurst are very stiff and the throws are shorter with the same stick attached. This ties for the best mod I made to the car, along with new shocks.

Glad you like it. I tried it on my first Camaro, 95 Z28 and it was awesome with a short stick. I did the same thing on a 99 I had. My SS came with the factory hurst so all I had to do was buy a short stick for it. This is a great combo and I couldn't bring myself to spend over $150 on a pro 5.0 or B&M for my first car. Glad I tried this first.
