Default Thinking about getting Fiske FM5. Please post pics you have any. Couple of ?'s

I can get a set of FM5 18x10 w/ 275/35/18 fronts and 18x12 w/ 345/30/18 for the rear and they were made for camaros for a good deal. I would like to see some pictures with these rims. My car is lowered so will I have some issues? In the front? In the rear? I was thinking of doing a mini tub so I can fit the 345's. Are these rims lighter then a OEM chrome ZR1 17x9.5 rim? Or will they slow the car down? Thanks for the help and lets see some pics

Those are some fine wheels. I'm looking to get a set too. 9 1/2" in the front is probably the widest wheel you'd want to go with. In the back you can go 11" but 315's are the widest tire that will fit without extensive body modifications. Weight wise, Fikse is the lightest of the bunch....as far as street driving is concerned. I believe a 17x9.5 rim weigh's 18 lbs. So an 18" would weigh a little more. I think it's the same weight as a painted Z06 rim. Chrome is slightly heavier. Here's a link to some pics on a 4th gen. You are gonna have to do alot of modifying to the wheelhouses to get those to fit. It can be done but will very costly. I have seen 1 car done w/ 12's on the back and it looks sick as hell. Be prepared to spend some loot though.

You won't need to minitub, I have 17x10 and 17x12 FM/10's and they fit better than my 17x11 Boyd's, hardly any BFHing and its lowered on a prokit.

Those look sweeeeet!!!! Question, do you or have you had any issue's with pot holes and bent rims? I'm curious because they're such a light rim.

No problems, I've had them since 2000. You HAVE to clean them every couple of days and polish them every couple of weeks to keep up the appearance. But worth it!

"What do use to clean them? Polish them with? I have chrome zr1 and I use water and thats it."

Simple green in a 50/50 solution (with water) and a sable paint brush; very soft. Rinse with hose. For the back side I use fine steel wool to get the black brake dust off (depending on how long it's been). For polish I use either Mother's or what www.stainlessworks.net sells for their exhaust; it's a paste very similar to Mother's for wheels. The only part that needs polishing is the lip, the centers are coated. For the centers, I use claybar if it has waterspots although I almost NEVER drive in the rain anymore. I also Zaino the wheels (inside, center and hoop) every month, makes cleaning them extremely easy and kind of locks in the high polish. Only ever use microfiber on them too. These are not chrome wheels but polished.

Technipolish finish: http://www.fikse.com/finishes.html

This from their website on care:

First, and most importantly, NEVER let heavy brake dust accumulate on the wheels for an extended period. Frequent cleaning is essential--much like a fine car finish. Most brake pad material becomes highly acidic when mixed with rain or water. This acidic mix of brake dust and water can damage any wheel if left on them too long.
Second, it is important to avoid using off-the-shelf "Wheel Cleaner" products which are typically designed for use on lower quality cast metals. These, too are usually far too acidic for high performance wheels. Fikse recommends a 50/50% mix of biodegradeable cleaner called Simple Green and cold water. Never use hot water on aluminum, and always let the wheels cool to room temperature before cleaning. Use a natural sable bristle paint brush (available in the paint department of most hardware stores) to clean the lug pockets and spoke corner areas.
Third, clean using this process:
  1. Spray the wheel with the 50/50 Simple Green/water mix.
  2. Let stand for 15-30 seconds, using the soft sable brush to loosen the dirt as mentioned,
  3. Rinse with cold water.
  4. Repeat this process as necessary to get the wheel fully clean.
  5. To dry the wheel, drive the car around the block to fling off excess water, then pat the wheel gently with a soft, dry, cotton cloth.
Fourth, most of our wheels have the center section clearcoated and the rims polished but left uncoated. This means that the outer rim (if the wheel finish is TechniPolish, neither coated nor anodized) can be touch-up polished with a very fine grade metal polish.
Fifth, once your wheels are clean and dry, you may apply a very light coat of highest-grade wax to the wheels to help protect them between cleanings.

20.5 for the ZR1's I think, not sure on 18x10 FM5; call Fikse tomorrow and ask.

I'll throw some pics up tomorrow. The rears have 315's on them right now and are a tad too small, soon they will have 335's. Its all about the offset, the wheels don't rub at all lowered and hitting bumps.

Thanks everybody. I think the frts are 18x9's or 9.5. They have a 275 on it and fits good flush no roll of the tire. Also the frts do not have a lip they are like a zr1 (flush). Which will look better with the 18x12 in the back with a deep lip.
