Unhappy Need Help with a noise that has been driving me nuts

Alright ever since my heads and cam swap i have been chasing what sounds like a bad belt squeak, so i took off the belt and it was still there, i pulled the balancer and it was still there. it seems to be about half the speed of the motor, like if the motor is turning 2k than the squeal is around 900-1k rpms.

it's RPM adjusted but when i first start the truck in the morning it's there BAD and then once it warms up for about 20 minutes it goes away until i come to a set speed for awhile like on the freeway it creeps back to were i can hear it over the radio.

I hope it's not what i think it is

By that you mean the cam gear bolts backing out and rubbing on the timing cover?

My fingers are crossed for waterpump!! I don't think there are copper parts in our water pumps though. I have had an undiagnosed mild squeak that just started 12K ago. Worse at start up and frequently goes away away at warmup. Gotten no worse in the 12K!!! Go figure! I just can't pinpoint!! You have done a lot of work (more than me) and it sounds like you are getting close to figuring out. I hope it's not internal but the copper shavings are something to look into.

It can't be the waterpump if the noise was still there with the belts off. Unfortunately it does sound like a cam bearing if there's copper shavings. Good luck.

that's shitty. How tight is your tensioner? Does it need to be replaced? Let's hope a cam bearing didn't eat itself, That would suck *****!

Sounds definitely cam bearing or a twisted lifter.

Stop running it and open it up.

He already said he pulled the balancer, which means he's already tried it with no main or ac belt.

It's something internal cause i drained the oil today and something blocked the flow of oil pretty well and little chunks of aluminum came out, so she sits waiting for a new mill
