Just Finished my H/C install Happy new year all, i just got finished my project installing heads/cam, oil pump, chain new comp 850's, chromoly pushrods, etc. and i decided not to fire it up tonite so i dont wake up my neighbors. I also got tired of waiting for the coolant to bubble down in the radiator lol that takes forever. I've followed LS1howto's instructions and its been a huge help!
I don't know how some of you guys are able to do a H/C swap in 1 day!!! I just can't imagine doing all that without a break. If my formula were my only mode of transportation i dont know what the hell i would've done because it took me about 2 weeks from start to finish, working on it a couple hours after work each day. But i did a very THOROUGH job on everything and payed close attention to detail. I wanted this done right as opposed to right now.
Here are the goods. Cam is a custom grind comp 228/230 .588/.592 on a 112+4, and the heads are TSP PRC LS6 stage 1's with the competition valve job. I bought everything from a member on here with about 500 miles on the setup. He wrecked his car shortly after he did his install
but he dyno'd 418 rwhp on a mustang dyno with this setup so thats about what i'm expecting.
During the install I didnt even have to ask any questions on here. I had questions, did a search and well that search tool works like magic i tell ya.
If it werent for LS1tech, I would have never even thought about doing a project like this. This website is great. Thank you LS1tech!!!

Hey man, do yourself a favor. In the morning, torque those head bolts one last time before you fire her up. You'd be surprised how much they may turn before your tq wrench clicks.

congrats man! I did H/C mod about 3 yrs ago. took about 2 weeks as well, just likeyou discribed it. I'd come home and work on it for couple of hours too. only thing is I got done on a saturday night (around 10pm) so I fired it up.... neighbors came out to see what the noise was, they saw me/ws6 on driveway running. I thought they would be upset but, they said they wanted to hear it running up close. one said he didn't think I would get it running, proved him wrong. we ended up drinking and BSing till early am sunday. they didn't mind the sound and said "dont worry about the wifes, they'll get used to it". 3 yrs later and still running strong......and adding mods too-suspension/9" etc.etc... I'll be looking for pics/vids and sounds.........

I used the torquing method on LS1howto, so i dont know how i can go wrong with that. Let me know if there's something i'm missing!

Good job man! Hope you cleaned your deck surface well, so that there will be no problems with your head gaskets! Also, watch out for the "broodwitch" (your sig)

You're not missing anything with the head bolts. I did mine with the GM kit last spring and drove the car about 800 miles since. No problems; I wouldn't want to pull the air tubes, coil packs, valve covers and what not to re-torque the bolts even if they were ARPs. BTW, it took me two weeks as well. I cleaned and painted everything, paying attention to every precaution and detail - especially the bolt holes.

I must have spent 2 hours on each deck surface, cleaning with nylon scouring pads and brakleen. I wanted them perfect because i used cometic .040 gaskets, which i sprayed with copper spray-a-gasket. And yes the broodwich is deadly, served on a bed of evil...and lettuce. But bacon is extra.
