Default Finally got my wheel locks off!!

My car never came with keys for the wheel locks. I read on the forums that by hammering a socket over the lock will get it out.

Just thought I'd post up because it worked like a charm. At first I tried using a rubber mallet but I couldn't get the socket to stay on. I switched to a sledge hammer and smashed the socket over the lock and I was able to rachet it right off.

Only problem now is two of the locks are stuck in the sockets I used. I considered it a fair trade but any ideas how I can get them out?

The socket are only $3 so I saved a lot of money over paying someone to cut them off and possibly damage my wheels.

I bought it from a private owner. It was so easy I should have done it along time ago and there is 0% chance of messing your rims up.

yea whenever I bought my NBM Trans Am, the guy had put the cheezy blue lugs on there with the locks from AutoZone. I went and bought another set of them to use the lock! I got the locks off, then returned the lugs to AutZone and got my money back out of the deal! I got lucky i guess lol

Put the socket into a vice and use a screw driver to pound out the nut.

The guys at America's tire have done this for me before when I lost my key. They didn't screw anything up so I assume it is a simple procedure.

I had to do this when I bought my car. It had 4 different kind of locking lug nuts on it and then a few of the normal ones. I did the socket trick, but had to buy 3 sockets.

Huh...it's that easy to take off a set of locking lugs? Guess that's why the Gorilla's have a shield over the keyed part.

I just used the reverse threaded tool on mine last weekend. I think it is made by Lisle. Just fits straight over the lock and it will grab the lock and you can spin it off. It is best with an impact.
