Default GMMG.......

I just wanted to know if this catback would sound good with Hooker LT's with no catz. I don't know if it will be too loud with my setup. I appreciate any feedback that anyone gives me.

thanx,

jason

I have GMMG with macs and a ORY. Its really raspy so i put a bullet muffler in the I pipe. When you get the GMMG I want to hear the exhaust, because I am going to buy a set of hookers. and I live close by.

That rasp is from the Macs, only headers out there to do that. Switch to a good set of long tubes and take off the bullit. listen to it scream then

I have the GMMG cat back with my SLP LT and ORP and it is f-ing loud.

Most people like it, sorta sounds like a Nascar car at WOT...

I agree. My friend with an 02 Firehawk has that exact setup. Some people don't like it, but him and I love it. Nice sound for idle but SCREAMS at WOT.

I'm sorry but with any header longer than midlengths will cause rasp with the GMMG and no cats. I ran for several days with Hooker LTs and no cats and the rasp was terrible, the original sound of the GMMG was gone, I will never look back. I installed highflow cats and it brought the original sound of the GMMG back to life, all IMHO of course

I have a friend with headers ORY and an open borla. To me its pretty quiet untell he gets on it, then all hell breaks loose. And this is with a 3200 stall too. Would the GMMG have the same qualities as this. Would it remain fairly quiet if it was kept under 2500rpm.

They sound better with cats, but a bullet in the I pipe or for a different sound - a chambered section from stainlessworks in the I pipe will help a lot!

Guys, ANY aftermarket cat-back system will rasp without cats on an LS1. Some just do it worse than others. Doesn't really have much to do with the headers, but rather the offroad pipes. BTW, the GMMG with LT headers and highflow cats is without a doubt the best sound I've ever heard at WOT on an LS1. Incredibly muscular yet completely clean sound quality to it. Cats make ALL the difference IMO(as the GMMG is as good as it gets this way).

you know, i thought about just cutting off the whole damn muffler and tips and everything after the y-pipe and just putting a chambered pipe, but found out the biggest they come is 2.5" core. what you could do is use a y-pipe to split up and use two chambered pipes in parallel. but then, thats what the GMMG is, only for $700 or so. (whats that, like a profit of $650?!!)
