The only main difference is it is iron. It can be honed out to 3.905ish just like LS1 blocks. You can also fit the same larger aftermarket cranks in there.

I have read about a 5.3 stroker, where you just put ls1 rods and pistons in a 5.3 and it becomes a 5.7 but dont know this for sure cause i cant find anything that i read.

they use the same rods already, the pistons are the only thing you need to change.

I think the biggest you can go safely on that block is 388 cubes. 4" stroke crank with 5.7L bore.

Without is about a 3.90x bore and a 4.125 stroke. With, is a little less than a 4.200 bore and a 4.125 stroke.

I think that's only the 99 and 2000 truck cranks though.

if you want to stroke an iron block, find a 6.0. they are cheaper, way almost the same, and have way more cubes. if you want to stroke a smaller cube engine, then go with a 5.7 block. the lighter engine would be great stroked with some 5.3 heads.
