Default A/F Ratio gauge question.

This last summer i hooked up an a/f ratio gauge in my car in the cubby hole and i spliced the signal wire into one of the wires on the PCM but i'm not sure its the right one because it doesn't bounce back and forth like it did in my old car. the car is a 98 Z28. if anyone has hooked their up this way which port on the pcm did you use? i believe i used either pin 42 or 47 on the BLUE connector but i looked off of this guide. http://www.fbody.com/tech/details.cgi?id=55

Caspers Electronics makes O2 sensor pigtails for what you want to accomplish.

I know that doesn't answer your question specifically but it gives you another option.

for a 98, bank 1 sensor 1 is pin 47 which is the drivers side front o2 sensor, which is right for you...42 is the drivers side rear o2 sensor.....the wire is very sensitive, did you cut the insulation and wrap the wire? you may of nicked the wire...but like 01z28m6 said, you should try looking into a pigtail, that way the o2 sensor wire isn't touched....
