Default Can't pump gas in my new ride

Just picked up a 2001 z28 a week ago and when i tried to fill my tank up the pump stops as if it's full. I was able to hold the pump handle half way and it filled up, but super slow. Then i tried another gas station and it would not even let me hold the pump half way. So far i have only found one gas station that was able to work with no problems. Any idea how i can fix this?
anybody ever have this problem? I cant afford to go to these high price gas stations in san francisco,so i need to fix this and grab some costco gas@ 3.45/gal. (premium) everybody else wants 3.70-3.99 i need ever penny i can save =)

Thanks, Dan

you will eventually learn how to manipulate the pump handle to make it work.

By chance, did you have the key on(engine off) when this happened? Like if your listening to the radio or something?

Mine wont let me pump gas into it with the key in the on position. Drove me nuts till I figured it out

now that i think of it the one time i was able to pump with no problem i was by myself and most likely took the key out. I hope that's what it was and if it does work, does that mean all camaros are like this? thanks for the replys

Every once in a while I have a problem with the pumps. I think it has something to do with the design of the filler neck. It won't let the gas flow down into the tank fast enough and gas builds up to the nozzle and shuts of the pump. I usually pull the nozzle out about half way and don't have many problems. Sometimes I have to turn the nozzle at different angles to keep it running.

Yeah check it out and let us know. I know 100% that mine wont let me pump gas with the key in the on position. If I take the key out its fine

I've always wondered if mine was the only one that did that, although im sure its not.

mine did that, you have to lift up the pump and go in at an angle, the pumps around here have small necks for some reason.

Flip the bastard over so the trigger is on top? Good chance it has to do with the vapor recovery system they have to use now. If your cars vent line for that is clogged it will keep shutting off like that. Sometimes if you just wiggle the nozzle violently it will knock out whatever junk is in there and it will be good.

Just filled up and it worked fine when i took the key out before i pumped.
I am going to try the exact same pump that did work last time to see what happens. Everybody wants the cheap costco gas so its hard to get that same pump(big line). I also was going to see what happen if i left the key in, but i just bought one of those lock gas caps so i had to take the key out. If nobody is waiting on me for gas next time i will experiment a little more. Thanks for all the replies and i'll let you guys know how i am doing with my future gas fill-ups.
