Stenod Perfomance has a couple guys pushing 1400+ on a stock crank, I believe Ohio Boys are also running a stocker in the 7's (1/4 mile). In fact, I don't know if I've ever heard of a stock crank failing before..

I believe the new firing order and cam design that GM started using with the LS engines helped the cranks out alot by cutting the stress probably in half.

the six bolt design that holds each crank bearing in place helps too...

I ran one for two years (well over 300 passes) in my 347 and I'm running a stock (6.0L) crank in the new LS2 I just put in. Matter of fact the crank that was in my 347 was a well used crank out of Distortion_69's M6 car.

Crank and bearings looked fine when i took the 347 apart. I dont think I would use one in a 8000+rpm 1500hp setup but these are some pretty tough little cranks..

Depends, if you dont have a crank buying a new OE one vs an aftermarket one isnt a huge difference so I would buy aftermarket if I was starting from nothing. Pretty easy to find good used stock cranks cheap though. Like anything else it depends on your budget and power goals..
