Is that a subaru or a mitsubishi? I'm not up on all the import terms. I had a guy in a lancer over the phone try to race me a while back and he backed down because I think i gave him to many options for a race: nitrous or not and drag radials or not. Whats your car run at the track?

Roll racing is gay...period. Your A4 is not good from a role, only from a stop due to converter slip. And if he pulled on you he is not stock.

yea i kno roll race is gay but it was damp out soo thats the only way i would have traction....and its the subaru...i guess last night was last time he had his car so we had to do it then

Do the throttle body bypass, Free Ram air mod, and put back the stock MAF and I bet you take him.

Well i got a good kit for ya for sale. I used it on my 90,000 mile camaro last season before I totalled the thing a few months ago. I was running a 150 shot with an msd window switch and a full throttle 255 fuel pump with dyno tune. I never went any smaller but I know a lot of guys spraying 75 with out a new fuel pump, tune or window switch. The Trans am I just picked up already has a zex kit on it and I didn't want to go thru the hassle swapping my harris speed kit in, but if this kit doesn't sell that is what i'm going to do since I know it works very well.

and i wouldnt have to worry about my car blowin up if i do like 75 or 100 shot?
i would not use it alot at all cuz it is a daily driver
z28berryhill
01-08-2008, 04:46 PM
also what what your et with that and what other bolt ons did you have

In my 96 lt1 camaro I had a zex kit with a pcmforless tune 125 shot, and a 503 cam, (stock heads, manifolds, y-pipe) best et was 12.0 and its been to many years ago what the mph was with a 1.8 60ft
my 2000 camaro with the harris speed kit had a 224-228 cam, full exhaust, umi torque arm and dyno tune (stock heads and stock suspension) It ran a 11.2 at 124 with a 1.58 60ft on 26" m/t drag radials on stock salad shooter rims. That was on the 150 shot I never messed around with a lower shot.

For the 5 years i've been running nitrous i've never had a motor problem. True i've never ran a big shot. I don't consider a 150 shot and down a big shot by any means.

01-08-2008, 04:58 PM
ok im prolly going to eventually try a 75 shot just for now
but come to find out that sti had a tune 3'' downpipe and 35 shot...i talked to him a little bit ago

My friend gained about 2-3 cars after doing all the free mods to his 2000 Z28.
EGR, Screen off the maf, Free ram air, and throttle body bypass.
I do think that the 85mm MAF isn't doing you any good if you aren't tuned for it. Is it a Granatelli or a SLP? Sometimes people get results but sometimes it has the opposite affect.
I had a Granatelli on my 01 Ws6 and it seemed like it was doing something, but on my 1998 Z28 didn't notice anything at all.

its just out of a z06 ...what is the egr and free ram air mod?
pddye
01-08-2008, 07:12 PM
itlnrob - Air is not going to get excessively hot passing by 3" of your throttle body. I've always kept the screen in the maf to correctly flow the air by the maf sensor. I know there is a good debate on keeping it and not. And the other two aren't going to make that much difference.
The key is driver mod.

hey pddye...would it be difficult to install a small little 100 shot or something? or is it just the same as a bigger kit with a smaller port size? i really didnt want to do nitrous seeing how my car is DD like the OP but it would be nice for those close call races.
pddye
01-08-2008, 07:36 PM
It would be just the same. I like my wet kit but a lot of people like the dry kits. Just do some searching on the nitrous threads and all the info in the world seems to be in there. There are pros and cons on either but my opinion is that they are all very safe. Personally I like the micro switches better for Wide open throttle activation than the throttle position sensors just because I have a thing for mechanical switches instead of relying on electronics. But on my last kit setup I did use a MSD window switch for my cut in rpm and cut out rpm for a little saftey. I picked up the window switch at my local speed shop for a little over $100 so it is cheap insurance and easy to install.
I have always installed my own kits besides this latest car just because it came on the car but I'll probably go over all the wiring to make sure it's all up to snuff. They are all pretty self explanitory to install when you read up on them and ask questions.
If you have any questions feel free to ask and I'll try my best to answer or lead you to the right person.

I have a buddy who has an 05 nothing but a full exhaust and a flash race tune and he has ran a 12.6 consistently... its nasty fast compared to my m6 ws6 with a lid

Nitrous was always one of the first things I ever did to any of my cars but to each his own. Sorry about cluttering up the original posters thread

If you research this you'll find write-ups on how to do it.
If you are just using a Z06 Maf, you probably aren't gaining anything and might even be losing horsepower. The Maf has to be calibrated to make any type of gains and even then it doesn't always work.
Trust me man, put the stock maf in and don't look back.

The free ram air is just cutting some plastic off of the bottom lid air box and if you really want to get fancy you can make a metal tray for an air passage. Personally I wouldn't worry about the metal tray because your intake is going to pull air where ever it can. And for the EGR you can buy block off plates or make your own block off plates to stop your exhaust gas from going into your intake.
Also unless your car is running rich or lean with the new MAF it will not affect performance if anything it will gain because of more airflow. If you know anyone with a wideband hook it up and that will tell you in an instant. I've got an LM1 on my Trans am and It works pretty well.
itlnrob what does your car run in the quarter? i'm just a little curious.
