Default Almost Cam Time

I am getting close enough to installing a cam that I would like to get some input and doing a bit more research into what cam and other goodies I will be putting in the Camaro soonish. The plan so far is to install:

Ported LS6 Oil Pump
LS2 timing chain
Comp hardened pushrods
PRC dual springs with titanium retainers
A custom grind cam (XE-R blank)
226/226
.585/.585
112 lsa

Have I missed anything or does anyone have suggestions especially for the cam, or something that would be a better upgrade. Please remember this will be a DD that sees at least 1000 miles a month.

Right now the car is a stock internal 2002 LS1 M6 (127K miles) with LTs, true dual exhaust, and a lid.

Eventually I plan to go with AFR or Trick Flow heads along with a Fast 90/90 combo and install some LS7 Caddy lifters when I have the heads off.

I think you could get a different grind to work a little better than that one

that 226/226 is a good cam!! especially if your car is a daily driver. pm GT GRILLER, he is running that cam. and i think he had a video of him pulling a big MS4 cam with his 226 cam.

With your miles I would put in a new cam retainer plate as well, it comes with a new gasket for the lifter oil galleys. If you get it make sure you get the new bolts that go with it from the dealer. Maybe also the cam gear as it can wear against the cam plate, check out how yours looks.

When you take the heads off be sure to replace the lifter trays.

I think the caddy lifters are overkill for a daily driver. The regular LS2/LS7 lifter works great and is a good deal at about $100 (SDPC).

Made quite a few phone calls to various shops about cams today, swear I just keep coming back with more options. Think I might have it narrowed down to

225/229 .585/.590 114 lsa (patriot)
224/228 .581/.588 112 lsa

and still my
226/226 .585/.585 112 lsa

Just got done driving it around. An absolute cold start the car is almost unforgiving, but once she warms up just a little it has a nice lope. I am still getting used to driving her around now, traction has become a bigger issue then it used to be, it pulls much harder all the way through the gear then it used to, especially up high.. absolutely loving it

Thank you everyone. Spent alot of time talking and reading to finally decide what I wanted. Luckily the internet has really been helpful in putting me in contact with other people and shops. So far I am very pleased with this car... can not wait for Saturday to roll around and see how it does on the track.
