Default Who wants to see a LS6 versus VicJr comparison?

I came to work and this was sitting on my desk!

So now it's the moment of thruth!

I'm going to dyno my car with my new blower-then swap over to the VicJr with a sheetmetal elbow and see if really makes a difference!

Then I'll be repeating the test again with a "bigger" cam to see what happens again with some extra duration. I would like to see if my CDNPERF 402 can buzz past 7000 rpm.

After getting Don's(Slowhawk's) input, Dave and I came up with a 238/246 which is in the car right now and then where going to try a 246/254. Goal is to make as much torque on the bottom end as the 347 was making but really shine up top as well as pull right to 7000 or beyond.

This will allow us to use a slightly bigger blower pulley to get more "belt wrap" which should lead to less slip.

My new blower should be arrive today as well-it's not what most people think it is! Hint-it's smaller than the last one!

need a cam optimized for each setup. Found what worked with LSx intakes vs what worked with vic jr intakes was different...much shorter runners involved

I bet you gain with the vic jr at higher boost (over 15 lbs) and lose with 10 and below. That intake will like the bigger cam though for sure.

Crank pulley is 8", blower pulley I'll try first is 4", so doing the math with a 5.4 stepup means at 7000 rpm we should be over 74000 blower rpm-that should be over 20 psi!!!!

Whole point is to be able to run a bigger pulley and push the rpm to 7000 or beyond before falling off-we'll soon see!

I'm just waiting on Dave@CDNPERF to get this installed!!!!

It's a good thing Fern the Master Tech@CDNPERFcan swap cams and intakes in his sleep!!!!

I reckon the LS6 wins

I seen a boost increase when I swapped. Although it was very slight.

To answer the thread title. Yes. Just do it. Try switching them. Then try switching cams with both intakes. If you can swing a cam designed for the vic jr. go for it, but don't waste money on another cam you'll never use.

We talked about that before though in the Patrick G thread about what the best intake manifold would be.

I just have to pick up my new head unit and I'm ready to go. I'll do all new plumbing on the Vic Jr so swapping won't be too bad at all. I'll do a back to back test with the current cam then with the larger on as well. I'm also going to dump my catback to see if there is a significant gain in power there as well. Remember that his is going to be with a centri blower, pushing it to the limit-I would assume the results maybe different with a Turbo. I'll be posting results good or bad-hopefully this will help answer some questions!

Everybody PM Sled28 and tell him to get that dyno in the ground!

I pm'd intakelbows for some options on elbows for C5's. I would also like to try that elbow from NitroDave-it clears stock hoods and if it works bonus. Anybody got one of those kicking around they don't need yet?
Edelbrock also came out with some cast elbows-one of them even has a divider to help split the airflow from the front runners to back runners.
I'm not sure how to post them but it's in there 08 new products brochure.
