H/C package ordered
Bank account is a little lighter but i just ordered a set of AFR 205s and custom grind 230/232 114 lsa (w/ rockers, springs, and hardened pushrods, and AFR studs). Also ordered FAST 90/90 setup w/ NW TB. Heads were ordered directly from AFR who is porting them, and IM is being ported by Tony Mamo. Also picked up a 9" rear as well as the suspension mods in my sig. Tranny is being pulled next week to be built (steel forks ext.) and reinstalled w/ ls7 clutch kit and chrome molly DS. Am really hoping for 440 RWHP, but as long as the torque curve looks good I won't be dissapointed. A few Qs.
1) Will the Extreme Rear Sway Bar give me any benifit on street (as far as traction not handeling)?
2) Should I spend the extra $$ for EWP, or is the benifit negligable w/ this setup?
3) Will it hook decently w/ nitto 285's on the street or do i need to plan on getting some wider rims than my ws6 stockers?
4) Am I forgeting anything at all?
5) Will this hang with stock c6 z06, or do I need a 100 (or maybe 150) shot (The car is full weight.)? If it is a dumb question, then cut me some slack cause the bolt-on ls1 is the fastest car i have ever driven.
Thanks for opinions. I am pretty excited about the setup, and feel it will be a good DD street car, which may see the track once or twice for times.

Hell no you won't hook! DThat's part of what makes these cars so fun fun. You will put down more rwhp than a stock Z06 makes at the flywheel if you have the supporting mods. Drag radials will make you hook and then you will blow your rear end up ! I would laugh if I wouldn't soon be in the same situation soon. Start saving for a 9" inch and a new clutch too. It never ends!!!

SOMbitch: 9" is included in list (completely agree w/ you btw, stock rearend wouldn't last a week). Ls7 clutch is also in the list. Also, stock c6 z06 puts down 505 at flywheel, but I have no idea what that means rwhp and also have to factor in weight difference. The goal of this setup is a respectable street car, and IMO that means that it not be blown out of the water by a stock c6 z06. I really hope this setup accomplishes that, but if not i guess i will have to add the N20.

I think you will put close to the same rear wheel horsepower as a stock zo6. However, the zo6 has a curb weight of 3,170 or so pounds so its got a big advantage. but with drag radials and good susp. mods with 4.11's or so, you should blast a stock z06 on the strip with a good burnout and launch! With the mods im in the process of doing, Ill smoke a H/C z06.

Reality check....
C6Z06 has more average power due to the larger displacement and is probably 4-500 lbs lighter (huge advantage there). The peak HP numbers will be close. I think this set-up will be around 440-450 with the 9" and a Z is usually 450-460....more with some tuning (but has more area under the curve as I previously mentioned).
ET is a traction game so on sticky tires you might beat a Z till the end of the 1320 but he will have 3-4 MPH more trap speed.
This set-up should be a legit low eleven car with ET streets and reasonable D/A....A serious minus D/A and a good run could put it in the tens but it will likely be a low/mid eleven second car....but something you can drive every day.
Go in with reasonable expectations and you usually end up smiling....go in expecting the best anything could possibly do on paper and the likelihood for disappointment is MUCH higher....
Tony
PS....The key is properly crunching the power to weight figures and knowing whats realistic in the first place considering traction and the rest of the combo.

Man almost the exact set up I'll be running, But You will have much better heads than I will.
Still waiting on some stuff from texas speed and I'll be doing the swap.
Also you'll love the 9" I know I do. Good luck with everything

Tony, that was kinda what I was thinking. I hoped it would be similar to the Z06, and honestly i thought it would run somewhere in the mid to low 11's. I wasn't aware that the z06 weighed so much less. Guess I will have to give some serious thought to N20, but probably just a 75-100 shot.

All that good stuff and your bank account is only a little lighter? They hiring where you work? I'm prolly gonna get ripped on for saying this, but if you are only gonna run the car at the track a couple times and mostly street drive I'd go w/ a 12 bolt rear. It's a little lighter and eats a little less power, which should put you that much closer to your goal.

5.3LJimmy. LOL, I guess "expensive" is relative to the individual. About the 12 bolt, I Honestly almost did that exact thing. But I am eventually going to make this a track car, so I wanted a bulletproof rear-end/drivetrain.

sweet. thats the same set up my sister has in her camaro. hers didn't hit the wallet as much though cause she installed her own stuff and did her tuning with ls1 edit. she can almost hang with my turbo tiburon now! dam lawyers...congrats man i'm jealous.

oh hey tony! does power marine still have a dealer discount with you? i dunno if you know but jack passed away a couple years ago. we miss building all those big block boat motors with afr heads. it was one of those irraplacable jobs that you'd dam near do for free. let me know, if landon here had told me sooner i'd of called yah myself before he ordered everything. i'm puttin together a 496 myself what do you have in your arsenal over there for me? robert says hi too. hope all is well.

Sorry To confuse everybody I meant a LS6 Z06 (405 rwhp) not a 7 Liter (505 hp flywheel) Z06. I was trying to compare apples to apples. Of course the extra ci of the 427 gives it a huge advantage over our 346 ci. Tony, you are right on the money with your ET estimates. My buddy consistently runs runs 10.9x-11.1x dependining on how he hooks with 450x rwhp on a dynojet. Forged internals, ms4,Fast 90/90 etc.... A4 3600 stall car.

Wow im really jealous! I would suggest instead of spending the "extra" money on the EWP, maybe get an LS2 timing chain and a ported LS6 oil pump, for safety's sake and peace of mind. Unless i missed somewhere that you already have that or it's already on the list, then just disregard this post lol. Also, I think you will easily hit your 440rwhp mark. Good luck with the new setup, thats gonna be one mean car!

LOL, PAULZ28 (who doesn't have a sister, much less one with a H/C ls1) is just mad because he sold his turboed camaro to go with a 'reliable' tiburon (which is not a turbo car by the way). How many mpg's does that grocery getter get on the highway nowadays? Too be fair, he is building a big block lagoona which should be f***ing mean!
