Default Help possible New auto LS1 owner trying to pick a drivable cam

Hey guys I am possibly purchasing my first automatic ls1 I have had a stick for a while now love it, But i do not love it in Atlanta traffic. So i have found a lowmileage auto z28 it has crappy 273 gears but is really cheap. My questions are what type of cam should I put in this car? the car still needs to be able to be driven daily and I DEF want something on a 112 lsa, do i have to get a stall when I do the cam or can the car be driven without a stall for a while. And When not if I decide to lose those 273 gears will I have to change the stall again? I know this is a lot of questions but how much hp can a stock 4l60e stand I know that a stock t56 will hold up fairly well on a heads cam car but Im not sure about the automatics. any helop would be greatly appreciated. And how often do these automatic transmission mounts break>

cant answer all your questions but for the transmissions it being 4l60e mine has been used, abused and raped daily since day one...it finally gave out on me about 152000 miles later...the car was basically stock and have always been current with maintenance....so i guess it wouldnt last to long on a modified car....and the mount has been broken for a long time so i dont know how long those last...i think i changed mines about 2 times>>>>>>>>>>98 ls1 2.73 with the slp package

You can certainly have your cake and eat it too with a cam that fits your mods and goals. As long as you are not drawn to the fashionable top-end-only cams out there, you can have a camshaft that will work with the stock converter (or mild aftermarket) stall, give you strong mid-range and still pull nicely up high.

Will you be putting headers on this car? Cats or no cats? LS1 intake or LS6? Depending on your mods and goals, a custom cam can be tailored to exactly what you want.
