Default stock 243's worth it???

I recently had the MTI stealth 2 cam installed(224/220 .581/.581 116lsa). During the install, we found that 2 lifter where not pumping enough oil up to the rockers and it wor down the end of the push rod and rocker. Now this means I have to pull the heads to replace the lifters . If I'm pullin the heads off, it would seem pointless to put stock 853's back on the car. I can get stock 243's to put back on the car. Now my question is, are stock casting 243's worth putting on. Right now I'm on a tight budget. Im not sure if I can save up for ported heads right now. How much more power would they make over my stock 853's with my new cam? I dont have any dyno # right now to go off of.

Yes they are worth putting on because thats all I have stock 243 with the valve spring change only(Comp Cams 921), you will gain 15 to 20rwhp and around 2/10 in 1/4 mile is what I have seen out of the cars Ive done. Good Luck

hell yea, the 853's seem like a pretty big restriction compared to the others. i went from 853's to 241's on a stock ls1 and i noticed quite a big difference. 243's would be a nice upgrade, especially on a budget

You can get a set of 243 castings from Patriot for about $400. They are definetly worth it.

Thats true. I got mine for $450 assembled except for the springs, push rods, and lifters. I used new yellow LS6 springs, harden 7.4 push rods and new LS7 lifters.
