Default rebuild 346 or stroke it.....

I am at a point where I need to make a decision...I can either...
a) remove my factory shortblock and add forged rods/pistons new bearings and rings
or:
b) buy a 396cid short block

Option B is about $2000(with new cam) more than option A but the 51 extra cubic inches would be offset by 75 lbs of the iron 6.0 block. What should I do?

How much would it cost for a forged 6.0, thats what I would do. Hopefully that comes out soon, <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

Put it this way Phil.. I have a BB forged 346ci shortblock. If someone offered me a nice price for my entire longblock or just the shortblock. I would go with a bigger motor in a heartbeat..

You could always do a 382 stroker for a lot less than plan B. You can get a brand new LS6 block for $600-700, and the lunati 382 all forged stroker kit on sale for $3300. If I were doing it again, for the money, I'd go that route over a 346 forged build up...

No replacement like displacement. Go for the classic BBC chevy 396 beautiful CID! <img border="0" alt="[cheers]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_cheers.gif" /> <img border="0" title="" alt="[Cool]" src="gr_images/icons/cool.gif" />

Is this going to be with Shirl's out of the box stock crank set up that you mentioned on the C5 forum a couple of months ago?

Stroke it.I just went through this same decision 2 days ago. After talking to the engine builders I am going with a 408.Using callies crank, eagle rods and diamond pistons. Then put a little juice on top of it. <img border="0" alt="[cheers]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_cheers.gif" />
