Default shifting problems at WOT!

i've got a 00'trans am. upgraded hydrolics, centerforce dual friction clutch. when i am driving normal, or at half throttle, i can shift fine and fast and everything seems to work fine, but when i get to WOT and rpm's get high, when i try to shift, it wont let me go into gear, i have to hold it there for a second or two, and when the rpm's get back down it slides right in, i dont understand it, it dont grind or anything, it just dont let me into gear. say for example, driving normal from 2nd to 3rd it goes it quick and easy, but WOT from 2nd to 3rd i have to keep the clutch in and hold it up there till the rpm's get down and then slides right in, wont let me get into gear at high rpm's. Any one got any suggestions.

Time for a rebuild. It's the 3-4 shift fork.

the transmission has 10,000 miles on new rebuild, plus i had the d&d performance kit and steel 3-4 forks put in it, so i dont think it that, the thing shifts perfect no grinding at all, or anything, it dont pop out of gear when it goes, just problem getting in the gear at high rpm's, but it dont grind or pop out as soon as it goes in. but i probably do need to do drill mod, cause it never been done.

These problems areusually always hydraulics.
Do you have an adjustable master?
Seen a properly adjusted master & the drill mod do wonders.

i just have the gm hydro's. the Master cylinder is the same one i had on it when i bought it, but i updated the slave to the 01'02' when i had the tran. rebuilt about 10,000 miles ago. never done the drill mod though. it might be time for new mc and drill mod.

You can make a stocker adjusatable, see sticky threads at the top of the forum.
Or the adjustables you buy from sponsors are a stocker made adjustable, cept the McLeod.

Same thing happens to me bro. I have a centerforce dual friction too but the clutch holds well. I think the problem is prob the master cylinder. I have the GM, but thinking about upgrading it to a Ram or cartek.

Plus I already did the drillmod and it still happens to me at wot shifting problems.

The GM and Ram ones are the same, just the Ram has an adjustable pedal.

Yeah the Ram is stock adjustable unit. That's what I have on mine and it will do the same thing that your's is doing. I have Mcleod that I'm going to put on here real soon so hopefully that will help. The Mcleod is expensive, but I've been told it is worth it. You might check the for sale forums to see if you can find one cheap like I did.

I had that same exact problem when a had 415rwhp and a Textralia OZ700. upgraded hydraulics with stock master but didn't do the drill mod.

so, my question is what did you end up doing about that problem? did it fix it?

I had the same problem with my first centerforce. Did you buy a centerforce flywheel as well? If not did you get your stock one balanced with the clutch? If not then I am betting that is the problem.

Centerforce clutches seem to have problems if they are not zero balanced to the flywheel they are paired with. If they arent balanced the weights on the centerforce try to counteract the vibrations and that is what keeps you from being able to shift at high rpms. When i pulled my tranny to inspect the clutch and find the problem I found one of the weights on the clutch was actually stuck under the "hat" of the clutch from me spinning it so high and shifting. I called centerforce and talked to one of their representatives and got a new clutch/flywheel combo sent to me for a good price. I have now had the clutch for over 20,000 miles, including daily stop and go driving, lots of raping on the streets and several launches with MT drag radials. Still holds and shifts GREAT.

I posted a thread about centerforce clutches a few days ago, where people are having trouble shifting at high rpms. LS1 and mustang guys. It has something to do with there counter weights at high rpms on the pressure plate, that if the flywheel has not been properly balanced or resurfaced this problem can occur. It can also damage your tranny if you force it out of gear into the next. The tech from centerforce told me this.

Yet my flywheel has been resurfaced, but not balanced. I am goin to take out that crappy clutch try the LS7 kit. I am so upset with centerforce and there customer service is bad.
