Stereo & Electronics - Weird factory alarm issue

Alright, I did quite a bit of searching and haven't come across any threads about the problem I am having with my factory alarm on my 2002 WS6 - so here is the problem:

Started off with the alarm going off right after I would arm it - did check the shock sensor and no luck - decided to just leave car unarmed and just manually locked the doors with the keys.

Came back to car a couple days later and the battery was drained - charged it up - took it for a drive and came back home and low and behold the alarm works normal again. Again car sat for a couple days and when I started it - it started fine - battery was fine. Then I drove it around the block - came back and the alarm goes off right after I arm it - just like before. Didn't have time to work on car - so I locked with keys again - and as you guess it - when I came back to car yesterday - battery dead. Charged battery and started searching on here - came across the programming the alarm posts.

As I started reading, I read about changing the security system modes and I noticed that I think my alarm is "stuck" in the changing mode - even with radio fuse in and the keys out of the ignition. If I use the unlock button - even with doors closed - it changes the mode of the security system?? Also, the security light stays lite all the time. I also notice if I start car and shut it off and remove keys - the car tones at me twice - indicating it is going into change mode - just like if radio fuse was out (but it isn't and I have confirmed that the radio fuse is functional - if I pull - radio goes dead).

Only other thing I did yesterday was add the additional remote to the system that I had since I was messing with the alarm system.

Sound familar to anyone? Anyone have any ideas?

Going off just after arming for no apparent reason is usually the shock sensor going bad - how did you check it, did you try leaving it unplugged? When you programmed the additional remote you did both at the same time right? I'd try reprogramming both remotes again and disconnecting the shock sensor. Don't know what's going on with the battery, bring it somewhere like auto zone and they'll load test it free.

Yes, I tested the shock sensor by unplugging it and leaving it unplugged.

I think the problem with the battery is directly tied to the alarm problem - either the alarm system is using more juice than normal and draining battery (maybe why the "security" light on gauge cluster is lit) or I thought something is continuing to get juice after the car is shutoff and that is triggering the alarm - but was hoping to hear other people's experiences.

Anybody know where the alarm brain box is located? maybe I have a loose connection there - like I said it has been intermittent.

Thinking the security light on the IPC staying on is a VATS (key recognition) issue and not related to the alarm. What they do have in common is the body control module which throws codes, but doesn't illuminate the SES light and sometimes the service vehicle light. Definitely a strange problem, hope someone chimes in and it doesn't require a trip to the dealership.

I'm having a very similiar problem...Security light is always on...lights and fan stay on after key is removed... electronic transfer case is shifting by itself too...anyone else know what's going on for a situation like ours?...

It could be your alternator going.. Sounds like its working part of the time.. Your alarm doesn't have enough power to drain your battery that fast.. If your alt isn't charging the system well enough it could be causing your alarm to act weird..Autozone can check your alt also..You will have to take it off.. Just an educated guess..
