Would you guys keep this cam?
I have the 226/226 .585"/.585" 112LSA Partiot cam from my nitrous days and was wondering if i should keep it or get another cam more friendly for the turbo. i was looking at the TU1 from Speed Inc coming in at 225 225 .581 .581 113 and was noticing the numbers are almost identical... should i just go ahead and grab that one or keep the one i have. i like the lope and all but am wondering if i am really going to be doing any difference with the other cam. I may just end up sticking the stock cam in there, help me decide. thanks! ooh btw it's a pt76gts turbo going on a stock 346

Your current cam will work, but there will be longer spool times and decreased low gear boost w/ the 112LSA. I had a TR224 on a 112 w/ my STS and it began making boost around 3500RPM. It would only make 3lbs in 1st, 4lbs in 2nd (have a 5lb spring.) and then 5PSI 3rd-6th. Swapped to a Comp 228 on a 115LSA...make boost by 3200 in any gear (as low as 2350 in 4th...) and hit 5PSI+ in every gear.

There is no way in hell I would swap cams for that small of a difference. I personally wouldn't change cams at all until finding out what your motor does with the one you already have in it. You may hate it, or it may be just what you want. You might as well find out before the hassle of a swap.

well the hassle of the cam swap is no biggie for me as i have the engine basically apart and will be adding new heads on top of it (new=stock 317's) but i could try it out, it's just that sloppy unreliable boost mentioned on post 2 that has me on the edge of keeping it or not. once the whole engine is back together is when it would really be a booger to have to swap them out.

Yep, if you already have the engine apart, I'd suggest going to the wider LSA cam. I was suprised at what a large difference the cam change made on my car.
Good luck

great i wanted to double check to see if it was worth it or not with such little size difference, guess not. thank you both for your help. i will pick up a gt2-3 cam as it's just a upgrade to the stock cam and leave my lopey days behind. thanks again
