My first LS1
Okay guys i just need a little advice. To start with im buying a 2000 Z28 M6 with 59000 miles. I just graduated college and can finally afford the insurance. I would like to modify it eventually and plan to do all the regular bolt ons-Intake, Exhaust, etc. So what are some good ideas for simple mods, nothing to crazy like heads and cam. I will eventually do that but i figure ill wait and rebuild the engine altogether when i do heads and cam. I want to maintain good gas mileage and the car to be reliable. Most of my driving will be highway, to and from hospital i work at and its about a 70-80 mile round trip. I have another car to save miles on the Z also.

Naw, man, thats a great job! My wife is a nurse. I don't think I could do half the stuff she does! Better money than I make being a teacher!
Actually, thats when I got my WS6, after she graduated from school and was making a good starting salary.
Still, 70-80 miles round trip? Thats a but much, lol. Mybe you should move closer!

Are you a pothead focker?
Start with the basics:
Lid $100
Catback $300-700
Ported TB $75
Pro 5.0 shifter $190
4.10 gears $190
Then when bigger mod money opens up you can look at LT headers, ls6 or fast 90 intake, suspension upgrades and maybe a dyno tune.
Good luck with your new ride!

It's cheap. You'll get 5-7 rwhp for less then $100. Is it a big mod? No. But it is a great bang for the buck mod. And it's something else to add to your sig

So far im going to do a lid and then exhaust. Theres alot of choices for exhaust right now im leaning towards the borla 3'' at one of the local shops, its kind of expensive compared to other exhaust systems though. I will do headers the same time, probably pacesetter or hooker long tube. I wish that it would fit true duals easier but i will probly end up with a y pipe. Im sure it will hurt performance a bit unfortunately

Thats true but i also hear that there are many differences like slave/master clutch being better designed and im not that great with cars yet and have heard that changing parts can sometimes set off engine lights and egr related stuff. I love working on cars though and definately plan on buying most of the equip i need to di it all myself. I dont think my girlfriend is too happy about it though lol
