Default Cold Nt555r worse than normal street tires?

i'm looking at getting some nitto drag radials today and i'm wondering if they are going to have better traction on the street vs. a normal high performance tire under just normal driving around conditions?

i dont plan on taking this car to the track (maybe once or twice) and wont be doing any john force burnouts to heat these up, just looking for a tire that i can use on the street that will offer me more grip than the pilot sports i have now, if you guys all say the nitto is just like a normal tire unless heated then i'll just get some normal tires, but would be nice to get a bit of traction for the nitrous

its a 285/35/18 on OEM Z06 rims by the way

Cold they act about the same as my NT555's did (which are the regular radial). But just driving around a little on a hot day or doing a little burnout really makes them stick decent.

Overall I really like them for a DD tire (even though my car is nowhere near a DD). They get good mileage and they stick when you want them too.

I have never went through a whole set myself. I'm always selling/buying different things and don't drive my car that much at all.

the answer is yes! The compound is a lot softer than ANY radial street tire, and YES you will have a LOT better traction. Mine even work pretty damn well in the rain! I get 10-15k miles before I need to buy new ones

cold they'l spin but once they've been driven around on for a couple min. they hook pretty well on the street. At the track they need a serious ( 7-10 sec) burnout to hook right. Both sets i ran lasted 13-15k with a couple weekends of track time.

cool guys, i think that answers my questions, just wanted to make sure they were a little better than a normal tire during just normal driving, i commute about 40 miles a day too so good to know they'll last me a little while, i'm still on the stock rear end with 3.73s so i dont want them to be too sticky, so no burnouts till this summer when the ford 9 goes in, also i figure if for 500$ they take .2-.3 seconds off my quarter mile that is a pretty good deal, heck with the 100 shot of nitrous, these tires and some bolt ons, low 12's for like 2K in mods is not bad!

any of you guys break your rear end on them just driving around on the street without any crazy burnouts or 4K rpm clutch drops?

Honestly, I'd get a set of MT ET Street Radials. I had a friend with a 400rwhp camaro that used Nittos and they just flat out suck for higher hp cars. He would spin through 3rd gear at the track with them even with the tire good and hot. MT ET Street radials imo is one of the best tires money can buy next to a slick.

mine are heat cycled and i got them from discount tire. the charge 15 a tire but the guy did it for 5 a piece. he said they run it on a thing that looks like a drum on a dyno and they run it and get it hot then let it cool and they do that a few times. they said it makes them last longer and makes them stickyer because there are already broken it.
