Best battery-powered impact wrench?
OK, who's got a portable, battery-operated impact wrench for the track and who makes the best one (performance/price)? Also, would consider a good, un-trashed, used piece for the right $....anyone? Thanks. WJ

IMO they all suck for what they cost, the snap on is over $500. I have two snap ons, i work at a salvage yard and they dont have as much torque as they advertise. Then again taking your wheels and tires off at the track is different than use in a junkyard, so it may be good for you application.

Milwaukee 24volt
use it all day and night at the dirt track. batteries last, plenty of force to break lose or tighten, takes a beating(can't tell you how many times it has been dropped or banged around), and the batteries even have a built in charge indicator.

Thanks everyone....I've been happy w/my DeWalt 18v sawzall and driver/drill, and have a number of their batteries, so maybe the Dewalt 300 ft/lb 1/2" drive gun is for me. The Snap-On is a little pricey for my budget, but my son has some 24v Milwaukee tools that really hold their charge better than the 18v DeWalt stuff, so I'm also considering stepping up for a Milwaukee impact. Think I read somewhere that Milwaukee's now making a 28v piece also, but I'm sure it's on the high price end also... WJ

We use the Milwaukee 28v stuff. They are a little on the expensive side but they are well worth the money. I've got one of the 18v dewalt impacts in the race trailer and it doesn't come close to the milwaukee 28v stuff.

somebody gave me a goodyear one (they sell it at autozone/pep-boys) with an extra battery a year or 2 ago- it was brand new. i use it for everything, works great dunno if it can break a crank pulley bolt loose or anything but i just zapped my rear pinion (yoke) nut off last week, battery hasn't been charged in months and it took it right off. do wheels with it all the time, and made my rear swap(s) a snap. think it's 24v
