new zr1 clutch compatibility???

Default new zr1 clutch compatibility???

Does anyone know if the new zr1's clutch system can be used on our ls1 fbodies?

This was discussed in a recent thread. Because the flywheel has a different bolt hole orientation the answer is no unless someone can custom machine a bolt on flywheel.

We THINK its no, but we wont know for sure until it comes out. It might be similar to the McLeod RST/RXT clutches and if thats the case then great.

I'll be at the Detroit show tomorrow, so hopefully I'll get a glance at the crankshaft flange on the back. If it is 9-bolts like GM said it would be, then there will need to be a new flywheel made for compatibility with the Gen III and IV engines.

Better question. Does the tranny fit ours? They have differnt and IMO why better gearing!!
