Did the money go to a charity or something? I remember hearing about that. If not, I'm sure GM could use the cash !

And see.. Chev does make a million dollar sports car! Muaha.

http://www.autoblog.com/2008/01/20/b...-a-cool-milli/

"All of the proceeds from the sale benefited The United Way, and everything over the $99,999 list price of the ZR1 will be tax deductible. Not a bad way to spend a million bucks!"

I'd say!

Yeah, it was a 1953 production #003 Covette. I don't remember them saying if it was a ZR1, though. Then the guy upped his own bid from $900,000 to a million just to say he spent the 1,000,000 for #001.

Yeah the guy bought the rights to the very first ZR1 and the only one to be painted lemans blue. That was cool he upped his own bid to a cool million and he also got a few little perks to buy the car. Like the Ron Fellows driving school along with a few other things

60k/gallon is the price for CF non-yellowing coat/sealant on the roof. Only about $8k worth of it will end up being used on one car.

LM blue - meh - they could have made a special, never-before-seen color for the first one.

Are you sure? My understanding was the special paint was just for the air splitter in the front, as it is EXPOSED Carbon Fiber. The roof will not matter, as it will be painted blue/red/black/whatever. Just my understanding on it.....

Wow. Wish I had the money. Whats the HP rating?

Just watched the vid. That was just about stupid if you ask me. One guy stroking his ego in public trying to feel like Trump, didnt see any other bidders, Leno could have pushed that auction if he wanted to.

Good cause for the money I guess, not sure how efficient the United Way is.

I dont know if I could buy a car at an auction. To many people touching it, sitting in it. I watched a few of those. Guys just walking up putting thier hands on the fenders and leaning into the engine compartment. I'd freak if it was my car. You just dont lean into a car and put your hand on the paint and lean on the fender.
If I had the moeny I would commison a car rather bid on one already done and touched by everyone. Just me. Very few people have driven my car. Mechanics when need be and thats it. My wife doesnt even drive it.
