series 3 gears in a series 2 carrier?
Is there anyway to make 373s for series 3 carrier work on series 2 carrier? I have a spare rear with 2.73s in it and a friend of mine gave me some 373s for a series 3 carrier.

As an option, Richmond Gear does make a 2 series 3:73:1 ratio gear set if you want to go that way.
Summit carries this gear set - RMG-4900071
Richmond Gear Ring and Pinion Sets
Gear, Ring and Pinion, 3.73:1 Ratio, GM, 7.5 in./ 7.625 in., 10-Bolt, 2 Series, Set
I put the spacer in my A4 car when I replaced the 3 series Auburn carrier with a 2 series Zexel....

the inside of the ring gear has a lip which mates on the register of the posi, once you put the ring gear spacer in between the gear and the posi there is very very little surface for the ring gear to pressfit onto the posi. The reason you want the ring gear to pressfit onto the posi is to insure the ring gear is 100% concentric so you get a good pattern between the pinion and the ring gear. I would avise agenst using the spacer whenever possible, however you were indeed given gears for free...
