Clutch engagement issues...
Did my M6 swap this weekend, all is well besides the fact I cannot get a complete pedal. It has a new slave, original master (which worked in the donor car Friday). The pedal has about an 1" of free-play and then gets good and firm all the way to the floor. It has been bled many times now and I cannot get it to engage gears without pushing it very very hard into the floor. We did the drill mod on that master (and cleaned out the line), do you think since its not the "newer" master cylinder, it cant move enough fluid? My only though it to bleed it more, but I dont see how there can be any air left after so many bleeds. Ideas?...

what clutch do you have?
some need a shim to engage properly
i just changed my spec 3 and found that the previous
installer did not shim the slave,
i had engagement issues for 25,000 miles
then i put in a mcleod master and it cured the problem
until i hit 33,000 miles then i needed a new clutch.
FWI get a remote bleeder line, it will be worth it`s weight in gold.

Black...if I wasnt gutting two cars, and has the M6 stuff ready to go before taking mine apart I would say its a day or two job max. But could be done faster depending how manyhours you want to put in.

Did we bench bleed the slave..No..
What do you consider "alot" of bleeding? If I was to guess, I'd say we have bleed it 10-12 times. The pedal gets firm about 1" down, and stays firm to the floor, it just doesnt seem to throw enough. The clutch will also grab just off the floor, witch I assume is a byproduct of the slave not comletely doing its job yet?..

I think we may have bent the rod on the master a VERY small amount when we pulled it out of his car...BUT...we even bent the pedal stop out of the way under the dash to give the pedal more throw and it still didnt want to work. It sure acts like air in the line, I just dont see how. My tranny guy has it right now. I'll let you know what we come up with.

From what I've read and experienced with a failing MC, the hydraulics on the f-bodies are marginal at best, and that's when they're working perfectly.
I went with the McLeod MC to give myself a little bit of margin.. YMMV.
