Default Vehicle situation, what would you do?

Alright, so i'm in a situation and i'm trying to decide on what I want to do here. I've been looking into getting a bike recently. If I do so, that means the 99 Camaro has got to go. Its got 103K miles on it, and I owe $4,865 to pay it off. If I did go that route, that would mean to get a DD vehicle, most likely a small/midsized truck for a decent price.

Now heres my housing/job situation. I'm moving to Burbonois and i work in New lenox, which means my commute goes from 15-30min commute to about 40-55min depending on 0500AM traffic.

If i don't get a bike, i'd get another F-body with less miles.

Then there is the MPG thing, having a bike(weather permitting) would be excellent on gas(most likely the truck would be better than the camaro as well)

What would you guys do?

As much commuting as you will be doing, the bike is a bad idea. People in IL do not know how to drive and stupid kids on crotch rockets have pretty much ruined any hope of car/truck drivers to give you the proper road etiquate you deserve. Believe me, I know from personal experience with my bike. I would get a decent DD and use the 2nd gen for racing.

I would get a ricer that gets like a gazillion mpg to commute for a low price and enjoy the bike in the summer.

I'd pass on getting a bike. Most people get bored with them and eventually sell them within a year or two. At least everyone I've known throughout the years. I would only consider one if I lived down south, but thats me.

I live on Bourbonnais and drive to new lenox everyday. For one - you cant take 45 - the road is destroyed. I drive a grand prix everyday, i put about 3000 miles on my car every month. I wouldnt grab an f-body for that. Get something normal, enjoy the gas mileage as much as possible and rock out like that.

Side note - where are ya movin too? Which street? It's a small town...

definitely NOT a camaro for a DD around here. I'd be looking for better mileage and reliability.

My camaro got 18 around town if I semi-***** footed it. On the highway in 6th gear it was getting high 20s. As for reliability, I never had one issue. Actually my 2-3 shift fork was bent, but that was due to previous owner sucking at life.

You can buy a lot of gas for what it will take to pay off your Camaro, buy a DD, and also buy a bike.

You can't beat a mid 90s Civic for gas mileage. You can pick one up for around $1,000 or less, and they get 30-35 mpg just in the city driving.

I put a deposit down on a Grand Cherokee tonight and am going to pick it up tomorrow. Woot woot!!!
