Default stock harmonic balancer or underdrive

so i cracked my harmonic balancer and am wondering if i should just replace it with the same size pulley maybe just a lighter aftermarket one or get a underdrive pulley? also suggestions on a stock size lighter one? thanks Jeremy

awesome thanks guys do you just get your belts from a parts house? also do you have any problems with your charging system any way to off set that problem?

the SLPs and ASPs have high retention walls which stop the belt from flying off im not sure about the other brands.

looks like its split down the middle but underdrive for sure i can get a bran new powerbond for 165 plus shipping so ill probably go with that one

That's a great deal on the Powerbond pulley. Make sure you're getting a 25% underdrive pulley (as some companies make both a 10% and 25%.....the 25% is far more popular as we're all looking to squeeze out a couple extra HP). You shouldn't have any charging issues unless you have a sound system with an external amp that pulls a good bit of power; that being said, proper wiring and a nice capacitor can help with that. I vote for the SLP or Powerbond because it has the high belt retention walls that will help keep the belts from slipping off; I believe the newer ASP models have the higher wall as well.

As for the belts, check out SLP's website and you can get the Gates part numbers. You can then take those part numbers to your local auto store and have them cross reference the P/N to find other matches. My pulley is being installed today (along with a bunch of other goodies) and I used Gatorback belts....I'll let you know how everything worked out.

I don't like under drive pullies at all. i would stick with a stocker..but thats me. Find the power somewhere else.
