Default bad tensioner is throwing the serpentine belt?

My 98 LS1 is starting to throw the serpentine belt... The tensioner doesn't seem to be completely aligned with the other pulleys: can this be the reason?
Is that a typical LSx problem?
The engine has 85'000 miles

Thanks

Stefano

If any of the pulley's are out of alignment it will throw belts.

when i had my truck it kept throwing belts, the crank pulley was a little loose allowing it to wobble around and let the belt go.

OK, I'll check that. I have an ATI damper with the different pulleys boltet on it, maybe they are loose...

If it was the tensioner: is that something known to brake?

They are known to lose their tension and cause belt throwing issues.

Katech specifically built their manual tensioner for belt throwing issues with the ATI dampener, you may want to look at it.
