Wait for Weiand intake or get ported LS6 for this?
My car will have an MS3 cam and CNC ported LS6 heads from Texas Speed after I get them installed. I know that if I want to get full potential out of these mods I need a better intake and throttle body. I was originally going to wait for the new intake from Weiand that's supposed to come out in March and also get a 90mm TB, but with all my current mods costing so much I was wondering if it would be worth the extra money for those. Or would I be better off getting an LS6 intake and get it ported along with porting my stock TB?

Well if you dont have a ls6 intake now I would get a fAST for shure if you had a ls6 intake then I'd say unless you plan on nitrous go with the tpis 90 mm modification to your ls6 and get a 90 tb its 300 for the intake mod and near 500 for the 90 TB and I've reserched it and flow wise the fast isnt that much better at all. so you will save $ 500 bucks going the tpis rought but like I said if you have to buy a ls6 anyway screw it thats 3 to 400 for a ls6 right thier then the mod and tb puts you at what a fast is going to caust you. have to do the coolant mod too buy the way $5 buck for extra hose.

you cannot port a LS6 intake, its a one piece design, cant take it apart, the openings are surrounded by the seals, or gaskets, and they already match the openings for the TB,,,so even if you did grind out some material,,the TB is only going to go so far.

Take a look at TPIS if you have a ls6 and want to save 500 on an intake if you are staying NA.

for now run the LS6 intake, its definately noticeable over the ls1 piece
and sell it when its H/C time. Theres always a market for the LS6 manifold
Then buy a Mamo Ported 90/90 setup after/at the same time you do your H/C package and expect to pick up 10-18RWHP over the LS6 for about 1200-1400.00

install the LS6....
your combo will operate much better, and later down the road when the new intake comes out (or you decide on a FAST), you can swap it out.
the advantage is that the LS6 intakes don't depreciate in value much. so $300 spent now, will get refunded in 6 months if you decide to swap.
although...if money isn't the issue...why not step up to the FAST...with that h/c setup...you'll make killer power...probably 15hp more than the ls6, more if ported.

hello, i just picked up this book dyno proven ls1/ls6/ls7 performance and while i knew the basics (great book if your thinking blower / turbo /nitrous) it covered some intake combos. weind only gained 12, bbk 85mm gained upto 20, of coarse the fast was the best but costs the most. just my 2 cents

If your thinking blower nitrous or turbo go with somthing strong who gives a crap about 5 hp when your intake blows up because you bought a plastic( composit what ever) one haha.

Another cost effective option would be a used fast 78/ pro products 85mm tb.

If you remove the valves from a ported stock casting head and bolted on the ls6 intake, there is actually quite a bit of material to remove for a smooth transition. Yes, you can port it, but if the heads are still on the car I would probably leave well enough alone.
