Or pay someone else to do it in a warm shop.

That was nature giving you a warning.
Next time could be frost bite and permanent damage.

How cold does it get in Tyler Texas? Are we talking about 40 degrees or are we talking 15 degrees like it was here in PA yesterday?
I'll wash the car using a bucket of warm water as long as it's sunny outside and the wind is calm down to freezing. Below freezing and the water will ice up on the car and that's no good.

I live in the Country... Country country
There is one fairly close, about 15 miles. It'll just get dirty again when I drive it down these damn backroads. And its expensive there too.
< I know it says I'm in Tyler, but only during the week. I won't leave my car unattended at the apt complex during weekends.

34? Damn, that would be considered warm around here!

I just do it in my garage.
I worked at a carwash for 3 years. The winters were horrible here and they would make us stay outside and we couldn't wear gloves. We closed real late at night. My hands would be swollen every morning after I worked the previous day. I spent 3 years there, held all the sales records, employee of the year, and I still made minimum wage. But good luck.

34 (actually 32) is the limit that you could get away with washing w/out the water freezing on you. Your best bet is to wash with hot (not boiling, but hot w/out burning your hands) water, two buckets: one with the wash solution and the other with clear water, and rubber gloves on your hands. You may need the clear water bucket to rinse if you don't have a hose.
If you are really **** about washing in any degree above 20 c (like I can be), then you can get some mitts and cover them with the rubber gloves, and you're set. Below 32 deg. you'll have to work fast, and not get the car too wet, or else water will start to freeze.
