Default 2005 GTO Clutch ?s

My brother blew through his clutch after 32,000 miles. I've personally never done a clutch on any of the newer cars but wouldn't mind attempting to change this one. Would you recommend a shop just take care of the repairs or should I attempt this with him? He really has no knowledge when it comes to fixing cars but he knows how to beat on them. I will however attempt to fix what I can before I hand over my money to a crook, I mean shop. What do you think? I don't want to create more of a headache other than changing a clutch by attempting this if I should leave it up to a pro. Also, he wants a good performance clutch instead of stock, what do you recommend?

If I shouldn't attempt this are there any shops in the NorCal Bay Area you can recommend?
