Driveshaft wobble, and too short.
So I bought my car 1 year ago.. I have recently found out that I had gears and a tune..
Question I have is, when you put in gears, do you need a new Driveshaft?
The driveshaft I have is too short...
also it had a wobble..
I got it fixed for the moment and will be getting new DS, but was seeing what others had to say about this.
mine measured 40.5" from middle to middle.

yeah thats kinda weird.. there is some play with the driveshaft going into the tail and seating, but if it was to short it wouldnt hook up correctly.. what would be the point of swapping the drive shaft after a gear change.. a gear change doesnt change the length..

I heard from the crushing down on the rear end this can sometimes cause the connection point to change.. This is what I have heard, so I was looking for insight into if that can be true..
As for the DS being short.. It seems that it might of been changed before I bought car...
Just not sure if they got an incorrect shaft for the car, or what.
From what I am reading the stock DS on a camaro is 41.5" form center to center.
Mine is 40.5"...
So on the yoke side, the shaft part sticks out alot more then I would ever imagine that it should......

Maybe there was a 12 bolt in there at some point and they turned the rear back to stock before they sold it? I dunno but I'm pretty sure you have to shorten your DS when you put in a 12 bolt.

This one guy was asking me if there was a different rear end in it before I bought it..
I told him I did not know, and he was like, well there was something different.
LOL
I know this now..
