Any gains to be had with the holley aluminum intake? I am wanting to get the holley aluminum intake and port,polish and match it to the heads.I will be using this on my 346 at first but then got over to the 408.I know some dont like it but is there any gains to be had by using it? <img border="0" alt="[cheers]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_cheers.gif" />

Re: Any gains to be had with the holley aluminum intake? IMO, not really. There are some minimal gains to be made with port matching and porting. What minimal gains you do get though, I think are offset by weight and heatsoak.
However, if you get it polished they look pretty dern cool <img border="0" title="" alt="[Cool]" src="gr_images/icons/cool.gif" />

Re: Any gains to be had with the holley aluminum intake? Mine is finally running and I have this intake that Craig @ GTP did a complete port and polish job for me. I will give results once I get it on the dyno...He told me to expect at least a 10+ rwhp over the reg. ls6...Mine has been polydyne for the heat soak factor.... <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />

Re: Any gains to be had with the holley aluminum intake? the gains are there and can be found but sealing is still an issue...someone who uses the same local porter than i do made 482hp on the engine dyno with a stock shortblock, macs, his stage 2 heads, crane 1.8 rockers, stock cam and the holley intake
the pull after that made like 370 <img border="0" title="" alt="[Roll Eyes]" src="images/icons/rolleyes.gif" />
They still haven't gotten it to seal up well yet

Re: Any gains to be had with the holley aluminum intake? From what I was told, they are good for the cars that expect around 500 HP or cars that run the juice.
Good thing I know about the sealing issues and so forth, I was thinking of getting one for myself but it looks like I may wait until I really need it, hopefully they revise the manifold and come out with a better design.
